    1. Asahel Betts of Harmony and Madison, Somerset County, ME
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UEB.2ACE/438 Message Board Post: Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has info regarding the Asahel Betts family of Harmony. He had a daughter Judith, b. Harmony 1828. Judith married Thomas P. Deering in Orient, Aroostook, ME. Asahel was possibly from NY originally, but was in Harmony 1820-1830, then in Madison in 1840. From these census, it looks like he only had 3 daughters. He died in Orient Plantation, Aroostook, ME in 1843. He was married to a lady named Elizabeth. I am trying to find out the names of his other two daughters besides Judith.

I would greatly appreciate if if someone could do a 1850 & 1860 census look-up for - Richard G. Smith - b. 1840, Maine Note: in the Ancestry.com index it lists a Richard G. Smith b. abt. 1841 (for both 1850 & 1860 census) which I feel this would be him. He immigrated to Quebec in 1861 so he would have been there for the 1860 Census but not for 1870. 1. To all Canaan researchers
    2. Somerset County MEGenWeb Project Coordinator
    3. Hello, I would like to let all of those who are researching Canaan, Somerset Co., ME that I have updated the website. I've added quite a bit of new information. I've added some marriages and deaths from the Canaan VRs (I don't have all of the pages, though, and would appreciate any additions), information of several of the early clergy in Canaan, and photos and information on Barrett Park. I was able to visit Canaan last summer and I took as many photos of the Old Village Cemetery as I had time for and I've added a partial enumeration for the cemetery to the site. If you have any additional information to add, please let me know. I am going to add the photos of the stones that I have listed, and would especially love to add photos of any other stones in the cemetery that anyone would be willing to share. Photos of stones from other cemeteries in Canaan are also welcome. I hope you come visit the site at www.rootsweb.com/~mecanaan/index.htm and enjoy the new information. Have fun! We couldn't find out anything on John King. If you have any information on him. We know he was born in Canada, but have no idea where, or his fathers name. What relation are you to Flora. She was my Great Grandmother. My Grandmother was Celestine King Ronco. I would love to have a picture of her and her family, as we do not have any pictures of her or the family. If you could send it by computer it would be great. I could put it in the family album. Looking forward to hearing from you. Kathleen

    3. I see where you had posted an obit from the Waterville Sent. Would really appreciate a look up on the info following, if it is possible for you or someone else to do. A third generation cousin, Charles L. Turnbull, born in Pittsfield on 3/18/1886, died 11/10/60. He jumped off the Waterville/Winslow Bridge. Parents were James S. Turnbull and Janet Dobson. Would love to get a copy of the obit for family names. Also the story must have been in the newspapers, would like that also. Thanks in advance. Pam
