Sarah J is listed under the servant. I know there is a Sarah J Marden that married into the family and shows up in 1870 Census married into my ancestry to Leonard C Parsons. In the meantime the family above the durrells has also a Marden listed (18) as a laborer. The census is only 4 pages long and shows no other Mardens. We have been told that Sarah J Marden was full blooded Indian. Does anyone have any info as to where Sarah J's parents might have been in the 1860 Census? The other 3 Mardens listed on the page with her were: Aaron, Ruana, and John in another family.

    3. I have William Brawn Sr. born 10 Jan 1793, (Ancestral File plus the 1850 and 1860 censuses). He and Lydia were in Hartland in 1850 with children James, Thomas Benjamen, Milton, and William Jr. I think the Rendall or Kendall you mention might be Milton, who was the right age, age 14 in 1850, and then he would be 24 in 1860. These are the children I have for William and Lydia, compiled from the Ancestral File and the two censuses: David 1812, Permelia 1814-1816, Hannah 1816, Richard Lambert 1819, Sheribiah 1821, James 1823, Henry Peter 1825, Robert 1827, Mercy 1829, Thomas 1832, Benjamen Franklin 1834, Milton 1836, and William Jr. 1838. I am descended from Peter and Betsey (Kincaid) Brawn through their daughter Hannah Fish Brawn who married Charles Wesley Stearns, and from Eben and Hannah (Mason) Brawn through their daughter Lizzie who married Bethuel "Jack" Stearns. does anyone have info on Eben and Hannah (Mason) Brawn? -Jeanne ----- Original Message ----- From: <jeanninet1@adelphia.net> To: <MESOMERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 12, 2004 9:59 PM Subject: [MESOMERS] Re: William Brawn-Skowhegan > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UEB.2ACE/264.2.1.1.1.2.1.1.2 > > Message Board Post: > > I located copies of two death certificates: > Son David states parents were born: father in Berwick and mother in > Skowhegan. They were married in 1784. there is room for William to be their son. Another of their sons named Moses moved to Gardiner from Berwick. the rest of the family follwed. At just what time i don't know. there is information on the family at the Gardiner Library in the form of a newspaper clipping. It doesnot mention William but it may be that he never even went to Gardiner but settled in Canaan very early. He was in the War of 1812 from there as was another of Michael's sons named James.. William owned land next to the property of Daniel Foster. My thomas married his dfaughter Theodate. Thomas lived in Gardiner and I wondered if he met Theodate when visiting William. It seems that William fell on hard times and sold or lost his property but I notice he regained his independence later on which I was glad to see.. I haven't looked into ?Williams in Deeds so don't know oif there wa any connection to my line in! that area. Needs to be done. I am descended from Permelia Oakes and Sherebiah Lambvert's son Richard Lambert. Another connection. It just seems to me that it needs investigating--and most likely we are connected if any of Williams chilren say he was born in Berwick. HOp this is helpful Margaret Brawn Carter
