Surnames: Bray & Ditson of Maine Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UEB.2ACE/445 Message Board Post: Hi I have been working really hard on this family in the last few days. I have gone back to the 1870 of Center, Winnebago, Iowa on 22 Aug 1870. It was just Darius and Mary Bray at the time. He was 60 and she was 65 both born in Maine. Then I went back to the 1850 census of Starks, Somerset, Maine. I house number 446/470 was Darius Bray age 40 Farmer born in Maine. With wife Mary 46 born in Maine. With their Children: Joseph 17; Ezekiel 15; Benjamin 13; Edwin 10; Amanda 7; Elizabeth 5; Albert 2 all born in Maine. Then I went back to the 1840 Census of Somerset Co., of Maine and found him in Starks township living two houses away from David Ditson (Mary brother). Then remembering that Darius and Mary got married in Anson, Somerset, Maine. I did a 1840 cesus check and found George Bray. Then I did a 1830 census is where I feel that Darius was born at cause that is where I think the guys are all brother. In the 1830 census I found Ezekiel Bray, Joseph Bray and George Bray all living. Now my question to you all. Is there anyone out there working on the Brays that came from Somerset County of Maine. Mainly the town of Anson & Starks. Please write to me if you are working on these guys to help up things for me. Sincerely Donna granny01@uci.net
