    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UEB.2ACE/449 Message Board Post: This picture is in my grandmother's collection but because of the lack of anything written on the back of it - it comes from her husband's pictures whoms he didn't know anyone in his family really. The old man in this picture looks exactly like my father does now (my dad is 75). My own guess is the old man is Richard Harris born England resided in Moose River & Canaan, ME. If anyone can afirm or correct that please let me know because I'd like to know for sure whom is in the picture. I believe it has to be a direct ancestor of my father since my father is the spitting image of this man. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    1. Joseph PATTEN married to Betsey SOUTHARD in Skowhegan, 1790's
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: PATTEN, SOUTHARD Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UEB.2ACE/448 Message Board Post: I am seeking info on marriage of a Joseph Patten of Maine and Elizabeth "Betsey" Southard - probably late 1790's, maybe in or around Skowhegan, Maine. Betsey Southard is the daughter of Abraham Southard born around 1777 or 78. I am descended from a Joseph Patten, born in Skowhegan around 1777, who was married to a Betsey (maiden name unknown). I am trying to find out if Betsey Southard is the Betsey who was married to my ancestor, Joseph Patten. All I have been able to find is that this Betey Southard married a "Joseph Patten of Maine". But of course there are other Joseph Pattens in Maine. It seems quite likely, since two of Betsey Southard's brothers named a son Leander Patten Southard. My Joseph and Betsey had a son named Leander Patten. Another brother named a son Elbridge G. Southard and my Joseph and Betsey had a son named Elbridge G. Patten. And then Betsey's brother, John Southard named a daughter, Elizabeth Patten (Betsey) Southard! Also I have seen evidence that some of these brothers were in the Skowhegan, Pittsfield, St. Albans areas. This all seems too much to be a coincedence, but would like something more to confirm it. Any info or suggestions welcome. Thanks, Diana

    1. Gould - Gray - Welch Mercer or Smithfield, Maine,1850s
    2. Ardell Lynds
    3. I am looking for information on a John Gould who was married to a Mary Welch about 1850 - give or take a couple of years. They may have resided in Mercer or Smithfield, Maine. There is also the possibility that John's surname was Gray. This couple may have drowned before 1860 and left at least one daughter, named Alice M., b. 1852, there may have been two more daughters, according to family legend. Information found also suggests that Alice might have been born in Kennebec Co. If any of these names sound the least bit familiar to anyone, I would like to hear from you. Regards, Ardell

If you have a web site you can also have your pages listed there, just use the link for suggesting a page from the page whare it should be listed. The files put online tonight are: New files for Lincoln County, Monhegan Plantation, Newcastle, Nobleborough, Somerville, Waldoborough, Westport, Whitesfield amd Wiscasset. These were typed by Doreen Crocker. New files for Somerset County, Starks and a somerset County History, typed by Betsey Webber There is one town in Maine whare I have the early marriages, when I looked at the PDF files for it I had about 300 copies of the same page??? 3. When the list came back up I did not see this that I sent, so hear it is again. 21 more towns in Penobscot and Somerset Counties have been added to the Maine town histories at my web site. Somerset County the following were typed by Betsy Webber for the web site: Madison, Mercer, Moscow, New Portland, Norridgewock, Palmyra, Pittsfield, Plantation of Carrying Place, Skowhegan, Smithfield and Solon. For Penobscot County the following were added: Mattawamkeag, Milford, Newburg, Newport, Oldtown, Orono, Orrington, Plymouth and Springfield. This is getting close to the end, just a couple more for Somerset County, than Lincoln County. If anyone is also interested in New York I have added some town histories for Allegany and St. Lawrence counies lately. Also new at my web site are the borths to 1850 for Hardwick, MA (typed by Dave Swerdfeger) and births for Haverhill, MA to 1850. With Haverhill being so large only the one through surnames starting with G are online now. These are being typed by Corilynn Brown. Both of these towns are in the Vital Records by town section of the web site (marriages and deaths will be added when typed, please be patient). http://www.rays-place.com Cheers Ray Brown
