Date:3/24/2004 7:57:32 PM Central Standard Time From:cen57402@centurytel.net Hi, Thanks for this additional information as another avenue to search. Do you have Meredith DNA testing going on? I could sign up my son and my ex-husband. My ex-husband also has an Uncle Meredith and I think various male Meredith cousins might be around too. I don't know if they would be interested in doing DNA, but wouldn't hurt to ask. Sincerely, Margaret +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexecf=search&r=rw&p=surnames.broadway&application=public&query=Robert+Meredith%2F+Quick&filter ===================================================================http://boar ds.ancestry.com/mbexec? http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexechtx=message&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.sta tes.missouri.counties.jasper&m=2480 Margaret QUICK DAVIS (1810 KY-1875Jasper Co., MO) Author:Margaret Tull Date:28 Dec 2003 Board:Boards > Localities > North America > United States > States > Missouri > Counties > Jasper Margaret QUICK DAVIS (1810 KY-1875Jasper Co.,MO) Author: Margaret Tull Date: 28 Dec 2003 6:03 PM GMT Surnames: DAVIS QUICK PHILIPS MEREDITH Classification: Query I would like to confirm Margaret M. My grandfather, Robert MEREDITH is from someplace in Ky. He married a lady named Elizabeth QUICK. They had 7 children Harry (1902 abt.),Odis, Robert, Leo, Annamae, Dorothy and Violet. I am the youngest daughter of Harry. He passed away in 1974. I have two brothers* (Theodore & Owen) and a sister Ruby Jean. I hope this will help someone trace their family. Would like to be informaed about any possible link. Sincerely Uncola910 " NOTE: Not sure about this screen name (Uncola910) if still is active. * = If we could find Theodore & Owen MEREDITH would have two additional DNA candidates ================================================================== Attached is the introduction of the DNA Program by Ronhm@aol.com: All, I have just started a surname project at familytreedna.com for the Meredith surname and all it's various spellings. The project is to encourage as many Meredith males as possible to have their Y DNA tested. Females do not carry Y DNA but may participate if they have a father, brother, uncle or male cousin with the Meredith surname that can be tested. In Brief, Y DNA is passed unchanged from father to son to grandson to great grandson, etc. Testing a group of Merediths will identify those who share or do not share a common paternal ancester. There is much information on DNA testing available at:http://www.familytreedna.com/ Those who order a test thru the surname project will receive a group rate of $99.00 for a 12 marker test which seems to be adequate to identify a match. The 12 marker test can be upgraded to 24 or 37 markers later if a match occurs and you desire to try to improve the estimate of how many generations in the past a common ancestory occurred. A group rate is also offered for the 24 & 37 marker tests. To order a test & join the project go to: http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=M62154&special=True I have already had my DNA tested. I had 24 markers tested & paid full price. (ouch) After all that I failed to match 6 other Merediths who have been tested. Hoping to find a match someday to help climb my "Brick Wall". Ronald Merideth .
