Happy good Saturday morning Paul, I am responsible. I found your query about MEREDITH (while attempting to help any folks looking for their ancestors). I submitted your query to Ronhm@aol.com and other folks interested in this surname. Ronhm@aol.com is coordinator of the MEREDITH/MERIDETH (+ many other ways to spell this great surname) DNA p rogram. Hope this finds you well and I want you to know that somewhere out there exists a relative or two maybe to fit into your family line? If I can help your search...Please ask.... Jerry Bluchp56@aol.com P.S. The administrator for the MEREDITH-L Rootsweb.com site is Carolynjudith@wmconnect.com ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The following explains the DNA program from Ronhm@aol.com : All, I have just started a surname project at familytreedna.com for the Meredith surname and all it's various spellings. The project is to encourage as many Meredith males as possible to have their Y DNA tested. Females do not carry Y DNA but may participate if they have a father, brother, uncle or male cousin with the Meredith surname that can be tested. In Brief, Y DNA is passed unchanged from father to son to grandson to great grandson, etc. Testing a group of Merediths will identify those who share or do not share a common paternal ancester. There is much information on DNA testing available at: http://www.familytreedna.com/ Those who order a test thru the surname project will receive a group rate of $99.00 for a 12 marker test which seems to be adequate to identify a match. The 12 marker test can be upgraded to 24 or 37 markers later if a match occurs and you desire to try to improve the estimate of how many generations in the past a common ancestory occurred. A group rate is also offered for the 24 & 37 marker tests. To order a test & join the project go to: http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=M62154&special=True I have already had my DNA tested. I had 24 markers tested & paid full price. (ouch) After all that I failed to match 6 other Merediths who have been tested. Hoping to find a match someday to help climb my "Brick Wall".
