Unfortunately, my tree lists a great deal of information which I will copy here. However, I once made a comment about the earliest Meredith in Virginia and was told that that information was incorrect, but given no corrections! So here goes: Thomas Meredith, Sr. came to Virginia in 1650 and received many land grants in Northumberland, James City and New Kent Counties. In 1683 appears a Robert Meredith whose lands were surrounded by those of Thomas Sr. and in 1680 , a James Meredith. At this point, my writer assumes that James and Robert are sons of Thomas, Sr. But in 1700, she found Samuel, Sr, George and William owning lands in St. Paul's Parish, Hanover Co. Based on the fact that these lands are in one precinct, she assumes that they are brothers. Ref: Vestry meeting of St. Paul's Parish from 1705-1783. Her early information includes 1634 Land Grant to George Meredith. 1635 Julian, age 38, Walter, age 33 and Philip , age 12. 1636 Francis and Thomas Meredith, Elizabeth City Co. 1637 John Meredith James River County. 1638 Francis and Thomas Meredith (again) Upper and Lower Norfolk County. 1650. Thomas Meredith and David Meredith Northumberland County. For this see: Early Virginia Immigrants 1623-1666 by Geo C.
