1. [MEREDITH-L] James Meredith
    2. Hi, I've been looking for the parents of James Meredith, born 1797 in Franklin Co. MO. Recently found an article that said his parents might be John Meredith and Ann Taylor. They were married on Jan 17, 1785 in Franklin Co. Mo. Does anyone have any information on this couple or on James? James was married to Mary Wingfield Stockton. I have James's decendents but nothing else. Any help would be most appreciated. Joanne Chown djchown@aol.com

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Annie, Well don't lump me in with the people who don't care about their Welsh ancestry, or about Wales itself! A large portion of ancestors on my father's side is of Welsh descent. Most of them came to Pennsylvania back in the 1600's and 1700's. These are actually my favorite lines to work on!! I also would be interested in traveling to Wales one of these days. I even have a 'Learn Welsh' tape, a Welsh dictionary, and two CDs sung in Welsh! I'm sure there are indeed many more people interested in their Irish background. I think there are lots of people with a recent Irish immigrants, but not as many with recent Welsh immigrants. Thus the "connection" may feel stronger for them. There are actually lots of books that cover the Welsh of early PA. Maybe there's not as much online, but don't worry, the Welsh of early PA have had plenty of research done on them! And many towns in PA still retain their original Welsh names. 2. Good Afternoon all friends, This is a site packed with information...I gave you a snippet of what information is supplied and you can see for yourself what I mean. Happy searching, Bluchp56@aol.com +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm Search the USGenWeb Archives Digital LibraryNational Search > This search engine brought to you compliments of > ****See Search Tips Below**** NOTE: Rootsweb has been providing free space, technology, and staff time for over three years to make the Archives and this search engine possible. By clicking on any "finds" in your search, you will be given the option to receive advertising banners on the search pages, or to not receive them. You may also access the text files directly at: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb. Query: Select state to search: AK AL AR AZ CA CO CT DC DE FL GA HI IA ID IL IN KS KY LA MA MD ME MI MN MO MS MT NC ND NE NH NJ NM NV NY OH OK OR PA RI SC SD TN TX UT VA VT WA WI WV WY Search Tips: Searches are not case sensitive Valid operators are: AND OR ANDNOT Right truncation is supported using the asterisk * as wildcard Search for phrases by enclosing search terms in quotation marks Use parentheses to remove ambiguity from search expressions. Otherwise, operators execute from left to right. Examples: John AND Ruffin retrieves documents in which the words John and Ruffin both appear somewhere in the document "John Ruffin" (with quotes) retrieves occurrences where the word John appears next to the word Ruffin John Ruffin (without quotes) finds documents where either the word John or the word Ruffin appears will OR probate returns documents containing either word Midway ANDNOT Appling retrieves documents that contain the word Midway but not the word Appling Richards* finds all words beginning with Richards, including Richards, Richardsen, Richardson, etc. Ruffin AND (deed* OR indenture*) Use parentheses to ensure results. This search expression retrieves documents containing Ruffin and either deed, deeds, indenture, or indentures. Without the parentheses, it will find documents containing Ruffin and deed or deeds OR documents that contain the words indenture or indenture whether they contain the search term Ruffin or not Table of Contents for the USGenWeb Archives. CNIDR Isearch-cgi 1.1

    1. [MEREDITH-L] MERIDETH, George Washington Search results..Additional comments
    2. Good afternoon JinM1 It was my pleasure to attempt to help you find a lost ancestor. I suggest you revisit the URL that I posted to U. Always a chance I goofed and left off additional page or two. U mentioned Job....Problem with mentioning that given name (Job)...I bet you have no idea the amount of folks, in the past history of MEREDITH/MERIDETH etc, had that name. Do you want proof? Ok! Everyone reading this, having a Job with this surname, please send in a short note... See I told you...haha Bluchp56@aol.com +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Subj: Re: MERIDETH, George Washington Search results Date: 7/27/2002 10:50:12 AM Central Standard Time >From :JinM1 To: Bluchp56 Thank you for the reply. I was surprised to see 17 George Meredith listed and even more so when MY George was not among them. My George was born ca. 1810 in Ohio, was married in Licking County, Ohio and moved to Marion County, IL. He was married least three times and I descend thought his marriage to Rachel Coursin. He died on 28 August 1879 in Marion County, IL I am interested in George' parents, Samual Meredith (b. August 19, 1768 & d. October 1, 1840) & Elizabeth Sutton. Samual may be come from Isle of Wright, Wales but I cannot confirm that. His father may have been Job Meredith but that is a stretch. As a side note, I was in Wales a few years ago and had the opportunity to look in the Cardiff telephone directory. There were many pages of MEREDITH listings. Like a Jones or Smith might be here in US Jim Meredith.
