The sources are those which may be difficult or even impossible to find elsewhere. There are also links to other web sites which may be useful.Probably, the most useful will be the Parish register transcripts. I have attempted to include all the information which is available in the registers. In addition to the usual baptisms, marriages and burials, I have included the Banns register which gives clues to those few marriages which took place elsewhere. The register entry for names often show a variation in spelling of surnames, whilst retaining the spelling found in the registers I have also "standardised" spellings which makes finding families much easier. The same system also applies to Banns, Marriage and Burial Registers. In addition you will find a full transcription of E.P. Fennemore's "A History of Randwick" privately published in 1893, which also gives an insight into the Randwick of her day. I have included many other sources which I have found useful.I have added a page of notes on the sources which may help to explain apparently missing entries or conflicts. If you would like contact me with queries or if you have sources which you would like to add to the site, please use this e-mail link. E-mail me Finally, remember that these transcriptions may contain errors. Dear List: Last night at the monthly meeting of my DAR Chapter , we had as our program a remarkable oration by "Patrick Henry", given by an obviously talented fifth-generation Texas gentleman dressed in period costume (an optometrist in real life, and a Navy veteran). In between orating several of Henry's speeches, he gave, in the first person, some of Henry's other history -- his intermittent illnesses during this time, his strong feelings of the oppression our forefathers were under, as well as the several trips to see and talk to Washington and other of our forefathers, on which he was accompanied by his brother-in-law and supporter, Samuel Meredith. Samuel's name enters the oration one other time. Am I the only naive Meredith researcher that didn't know a Samuel Meredith was Patrick Henry's brother-in-law??? Anne

Herschel T. "Butch" Meredith MEREDITH, Herschel T. "Butch'-- passed away June 11, in Mountain View, exactly two months short of his 93rd birthday. Meredith was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, where he attended Ohio State University and joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity. There he met his wife, Suzanne, the sister of a fraternity brother. People thought they were too young to marry, but Butch and Suzanne were happily married for 57 years, until she died in 1988. Meredith's first job at General Mills was selling flour to Spanish-speaking clients in Los Angeles. In 1944 he was drafted into the Army, after which he returned to his job at General Mills. During his 33 years at the firm, he worked his way up to Western Division Manager. Meredith was a big fan of Buckeye football. He funded numerous scholarships for athletes and other students at Ohio State University. He had no children of his own, but his wisdom and advice was appreciated by many younger friends who looked up to him and enjoyed listening to his stories of the old days. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. An avid golfer and walker during his retirement, Meredith stayed quite fit until the last couple of years. Meredith's sharp mind, sense of humor, outgoing nature, and faith, which served him so well in his career, remained through his recent illness and up until his death. Meredith was buried next to his beloved Suzanne in a private ceremony on June 14, in Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1095 Cloud Ave., Menlo Park. Arrangements by Los Altos Chapel of SPANGLER MORTUARIES, 399 S. San Antonio Road. Donations may be made to Good Shepherd Communities, 119 North Main Street, Porterville, CA 93257, (559) 791-2000. Good Shepherd Communities serves the developmentally disabled. Records available show Reese Meredith (1705 in Landegley, Radnorshire, Wales - 1778 in Philadelphia) + Martha Carpenter (1715 Philadelphia - 1769 Philadelphia) Known Children 1) Samuel Meredith (1741 Philadelphia - 1817 Wayne, Pennsylvania) (He was the first US Treasurer as appointed by George Washington. Resigned about 1801 to Thomas Jefferson for personal reasons in particular wife's health.) + Margaret Cadwalader ( abt 1750 Philadelphia area - 1820 ) (Well known prosperous Quaker family) 2) Anne Meredith (dates not known) + Henry Hill 3) Elizabeth Meredith ( 1740 Philadelphia - 1815 in Northumberland, PA) +George Clymer (abt 1738 Philadelphia - 1813 Bucks, PA) (Briston, England family, signer of Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution, business partner of his brother-in-law Samuel and father-in-law Reese. Prominent citizen of the city, state, and colonies/US) Does anyone have further knowledge of children of Reese Meredith and Martha Carpenter. In particular, there is an Esther Meredith born 1744 in the general area who married Leonard Ballou from the Ballous of VA. Her husband, Leonard, died in Philadelphia while selling cattle in 1783. Esther moved into Smith Co, TN with children and died there in 1818. Her father is listed in family records as Rhys or Rice Meredith, but I wonder if it could be Reese Meredith instead. That seems to be the same name in Wales. Surely, Reese Meredith and wife had more than three children in their 29 years together. Any ideas? Hurston Anderson
