    3. According to death record of my gg grandmother, Sophia (Benoit) Roy/King, she was born in Bangor in 1843. Question: Does anybody know of any French Canadians that came to the Bangor area about 1840 to 1845? I am thinking that 1843 was very early for French Canadians in Maine. Thanks, Charlie King ggg grandson of Joseph Benoit gg grandson of Sophia Benoit King/Roy ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! 3. Have you seen Robert Chenard's French Connection website? http://members.mint.net/frenchcx/index.html From that, I see that French-Canadians were settling in Maine as early as the 1830s. Maybe you'll find something about the Benoit family there. My ancestors, the MUTTYs, came to Maine about 1833, settling first in Waterville and then Brewer (next to Bangor). Perhaps your Sophia's family did the same. Good luck!
