    1. [MEPENOBS-L] BANGOR 1870's
    2. Would be interested to hear anything about Bangor in the 1870's. My ancestors the GILBERT family came from Beauce, Quebec, to Bangor 1868, and two of them worked as Moccasin makers. I presume they worked nearby to State St. where they lived. All info. welcome. Thank you, Sheila

    3. Hi, Some of my ancestors also lived in that area. The LAMBERT family came from Beauce (we think) and settled eventually in Brewer in the 1860s. Do you subscribe to Ancestry.com? They have the 1882-1892 Bangor City Directories online. You may be able to find some of your ancestors. I found my great-grandfather John BURPEE as well as my LAMBERT & MUTTY lines. If you'd like, I'll look up your GILBERTs if you don't have access. Just let me know. -- Gary & Brenda Anderson, Masterton, New Zealand ----- Original Message ----- From: <SWTHANET@aol.com> To: <MEPENOBS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, 25 June 2000 09:49 Subject: [MEPENOBS-L] BANGOR 1870's > Would be interested to hear anything about Bangor in the 1870's. 3. Sheila, In the 1880s (and maybe earlier & later), there was a moccasin manufacturers run by Edward A. Buck. It was E.A. Buck & Co, located at 46 Exchange. This is according to the Bangor City Directory. Perhaps your Gilberts worked there.
