My gg grandfather was Cleophas F King/Roy born about 1835 someplace in Quebec. He married in 1857 Sophia Bennet/Benoit in Sommersworth NH. Sophia was born in Bangor ME about 1843. Sophia's parents were Joseph Benoit and Sophia Cotty. I also believe the Joseph Benoit's father was Charles Benoit. Question: Does anybody know if Bangor had a significant French Canadian population in the 1840 and 1850's?
