    2. George Robertson
    3. I have in my possession a few marriage banns. These marriages were all solemnized by Samuel Plummer in the mid 1800s' Samuel Plummer is my husbands ggg-grand father which is why I have them. If anyone is researching these families let me know and I will be more than happy to send you the original banns. They are not our family so we have no interest in them. Moses Littlefield m. 1. [MEPENOBS-L] My trip to Hermon
    2. Phyllis Phillips
    3. I thought I would share my trip to Hermon/Old Town Me While spending time with my family in the Belfast Area of Maine I took a trip to Hermon for some record resarching. When I arrived at the Fire Station/Town Hall. They do not have any records there at all. They however had the Cematary records for the four small ones in that town. I did copy my Phillips/Hammond/Mansell family and when I arrived back home my Vitals book from the NEGHS was here and low and below a lady had recorded all the stones for all of them. I have not found my one Phillips (Phillips H ) he had a daughter and a son there at the one but now I have to find more. Bangor Library has been very helpful on obits. and city directories sending me what she finds. I then traveled the 10miles to Old Town. They do have a ctiy hall and across the street a library. Which my hungrey husband did not let me go in. The info I got from there I had also gotten from the NEGHS in Boston. So my 50.00 membership has been worth it. Now I have to email Bangor and see if this nice young lady can direct me to where I would find the wills for Hermon. Phyllis

    1. [MEPENOBS-L] The Haggerty/Hannigan/Gillen Family
    2. EDWARD D COSTELLO
    3. KARYN --- Following is how I think we link: Mary Haggerty 1783-1857 Peter & Nancy McGuire Haggerty Peter & Jane Haskell Haggerty Jr Charles Henry & Mary Gillen Haggerty Thomas Elmer & Beatrice Josephine Haggerty Hannigan Our common "connect" is Peter & Nancy McGuire Haggerty, they are my Ggp's. I know nothing of the Hannigan's other than the link above, but I happen to have a Gillen package & a New Limerick letter noting the Beatrice Haggerty & Thomas Hannigan marriage which I'll send along with the Haggerty package. The only Hannigan's in my line would be those of you who can find a direct "connection" to Peter & Nancy McGuire Haggerty, like yourself. Yes, "we're long lost lenghty cousins". You mentioned Wayne McCarthy, I've been in touch in the past with Wayne McCarthy, he has much of the same info that I'm also passing to you. By the way, how is he "connected" to us; I could never quite get a clear statement from him on that matter. With respect to Haggerty info & those who are "connected" thereto, I'm interested in everything that you can send. Also, if you can, please try to fill in the blanks in my Haggerty data. You mentioned Irish roots: I found Peter Haggerty's Donegal roots via his citizenship papers. LDS/Family Hist Ctr have much of this on microfilm. Keep in touch & have fun. Do you have any info on Thomas Elmer's father[Owen]'s origins? He is the cousin of my great grandfather, Luke, my cuz I spoke of who did the book on Owen/Annie Hannigan[grandparents of Thomas H] and their lines, has info on Thomas & Beatrice, their children: Owen Frances, Thomas Elmer, Jr., Ethel Mary, Charles Augustus, & Robert Ellison Hannigan...so I wonder if/ how we are connected as I look more closely. Beatrice would not have carried her name over...but her parents were Charles and Mary[Gillin] Haggerty and her sponsors at her baptism were John and Louise[Gillen] Haggerty [uncle and aunt?]. You didn't mention a Hannigan in your line. Thomas and Beatrice were married at ST Mary's in Houlton on 102516. Thomas was born in New Limerick and was 6th son of Owen and Catherine [Bradley]. If your Charles Haggerty is the father of Beatrice, then, yes, we are longlost lengthy! cousins!! I don't think Peter would enter into my line, would it, except if he were the uncle of Beatrice. We are lacking info on children of Ethel, tho think Wayne McCarthy who lives here in Dover also....we hope to meet soon...may have a lot of that, as he is from that line, I believe. I live in Dover, NH...but am from Hodgdon Maine originally. My parents, just 80 years young, are back on the farm for last ?20 years almost...and so every time I go visit I pass the Hannigan homestead in New Limerick. I went in in winter and took photos from outside...and someday will go knock on their door and ask to come in!! We have somewhat limited info on Alice Marie, daughter of James L; and also of Justin Wayne, I guess. Luke has 85 pages about the descendants of Annie/Owen Hannigan, if you are interested, i know he would share it...he plans to do a book eventually for publication, I believe. I am trying to help fill in the holes...plus it is FUN!! I just wish we could track those Irish roots...You have had more luck than us w/ Haggertys in tracking to Donegal...any mention of where the Hannigan side had come from in any of your researching?? I think I can handle a floppy!! [what a leadin!] Snail mail is 38 The Garrison, Dover, NH 03820 Great if we are a true connect!! I LOVE it!! Slainte!! Karyn From: EDWARD D COSTELLO <costello13@juno.com> To: archangelkh@hotmail.com Subject: The Haggerty Family Date: Tue, 8 Aug 2000 20:21:11 -0400 Dear Karyn Hannigan --- I believe that we're cousins. Our common ancestor(s) is/are Peter & Nancy McGuire Haggerty from Co Donegal Ireland, NB Canada, Bangor ME & lastly Ludlow ME & Littleton ME. They had 10 kids, 2 of which were Peter Jr & Charles. I'm from the Charles Haggerty branch (they inherited the farm on Littleton Ridge) & you are from the Peter Haggerty Jr branch (he was a seaman, lost at sea). I have much Haggerty family history to share; at the moment I have a 25 page narrative, & still growing, of The Peter & Nancy McGuire Family. I'm also working with another cousin from Bar Harbor to establish a Haggerty Web Page for all to see. Are you located in Houlton? Please send me your s-mail address & I'll send you a package. Can you handle a "floppy". I'm happy that you responded. Regards, ED COSTELLO ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! 3. According to an ad in New England Ancestors, all US censuses are now available on CD (or roll film, or fiche) from Heritage Quest, P.O. Box 329, Bountiful, Utah 84011-0329 (at $19.95 postpaid). Since another lister kindly found my grandmother in the 1850 census aged 16 living with another family, I suspect one or both of her parents had died, so I've ordered the two 1840 disks for Penobscot Co. Make a note to e-mail me or post your query again in two or three weeks and I'll see if I can find your ancestor there. From "Red" Haggerty (son of Edmond P Haggerty in the Peter Haggerty Jr line); "Uncle Tom Haggerty originated in Houlton Maine and about more or less emigrated to Wisconsin where he opened up a general merchandise store on the Wisconsin side of the St Croix River and christened the town, that grew up around his store, Houlton. I can still remember him, shorter than our dad and more heavy set, but the same type of mould. Besides the store he was the postmaster also. I do not remember when or how he died but do recall that he turned the store over to E. P. <as above Edmond P Haggerty> to manage and run it, while still alive. Dad did not do very well. He gave credit to anyone and everyone and finally closed up the business. Shortly after doing so, as I recall, the building burned down, completely." From Ms Jayne Finnergan Smith a long time resident of Houlton WI: " Our Ggp's Mary Jane Keays and Wm Keays were very good friends of both Tom Haggerty and "old" Ed Haggerty <Edmond P>. We grew up thinking that we (the Conway's, my grandparents), the Joyce's and Haggerty's were the only 3 Catholic families in Houlton <WI> and later in life we equated ourselves to Houlton <WI> what the Kennedy's were to Hyannisport. Yes, I was present in my best Sunday garb to many of your family. I remember Charles in his service uniform <from the Peter Haggerty Jr branch> coming to visit us during WWII. If you could call me , I have some entertaining stories about the 3 families. My number is: 651-439-5447". <July, 1999> m: Elizabeth Curtis, 28 June 1875 , at St Michael's RCCh, Stillwater MN; w: Jacob Hinchey & Mary J Curtis; o: M E Murphy. 1. [MEPENOBS-L] HENDERSON
    2. Donna Gene Tyler Cummings
    3. Greetings, Does anyone have any connection to or knowledge of MOSES, WELLINGTON & CHARLES HENDERSON, brothers who were born in New Portland and went to Old Town and Orono to work as lumbermen? They were born about 1818-1828 so far as I can figure. Wellington married MARGARET RING of Bangor and had a son FRANK HENDERSON who went to Boston. One of the younger brothers of Moses, Wellington & Charles -- GEORGE WASHINGTON HENDERSON -- was my great-great-grandfather. I have been trying for over 20 years to find something about their parents besides the names -- JOHN and MARY ELLEN HENDERSON of New Portland. I keep trying and welcoming all suggestions!!
