I would to find any info on the Dunn family from Greenbush, Costigan, Old Town area. My grandfather & grandmother's name was Fernando & Maude (Bastian) Dunn, he was from Greenbush born in 1898 died in 1940 and she was born in 1902 and died in 1938, they had 6 children: George, Robert, Kathryn, Donald, Carolyn and Mona. Fernando's father was John ? Dunn and he married Susan (Harris) Dunn and they had several children. (Some of their names were John, Carl, Fernando, Albert, ????. John's father was Thomas ? Dunn and he married ?. I believe Thomas Dunn originally came from Exeter to Greenbush in about 1840. That is as far back as I can get, I believe that our family originally came from Ireland and that the name was spelled O'Dunne and the O and e was dropped through the years. I have no idea how they came into Maine. Can anyone help me?
Hi Peter Penobscot County Protate abstracts are catalogued in the Probate Office at the Penobscot County Courthouse on Hammond Street in Bangor. Old abstracts were compiled in a book (or two) and a copy are in various libraries including Bangor Public Library. If you e-mail their reference department they will respond to a query. Thank you Stewart, I would like to know if Eliza/Elizabeth/Lizzie Sylvester or Alvah/Alvin Sylvester occur in the book. Any help is much appreciated. Sharyn
I have borrowed a copy of this book from NEHGS library and can keep it for less than two weeks. I'd be glad to look up any names of interest - be sure to include given name as well as surnames -- there are many entries for some surnames. Entries often include names of wife and children of the deceased, and there are some instances where children were adopted and the name changed. For example, "Jerome Lewis, son of A. Melissa Lewis of Corinth, divorced, was ae abt 3 yrs Apr. 1857 when adopted by Isaac G. Ridley. Name changed to Herbert Leslie Ridley." If you know of alternate spellings of the surnames, please mention them. Apparently the compiler, Ruth Gray, had difficulty sometimes deciphering the scripts. Stewart Rowe

My ggg grandmother, Sophia Cote, married Joseph Benoit/Bennet about 1840 probably in The Bangor or Olde Town area. I don't think Joseph Benoit was from this area but I think Sophia Cote was. I think French Canadians may have been in Olde Town in the early 1800's. Does anybody have any information that would indicate that there was a Cote/Cota family was living in the Bangor or Olde Town areas in 1820?
