Dear List, I recently made a trip to the DAR Genealogical Library and in my short time there (I could have spend a LOT more time there!) I was able to make a new connection in my family tree. I am a descendant of Aaron Brown and his wife Hannah of Canton, ME. Anyone with additional info or questions on this line or the allied families are invited to email me or answer me here. Thanks, Heidi Agin heidi_agin@juno.com Descendants of Aaron BROWN. See end of document for current source citations. First Generation 1. Aaron BROWN1. Aaron married Hannah2. I believe this is Hannah Proctor. I have an LDS marriage citation for : Aaron Brown m Hannah Proctor, Sept 5, 1797, in Nashua, Hillsboro, NH. I do not have corroborating documentation to prove that this couple is the same as my Aaron Brown and Hannah, but the time frame fits very well, based on the date of birth of the first child, as well as the middle name of Proctor given to several of the Brown children. (notation on April 8th, 2001) Aaron and Hannah had the following children: + 2 M i. James BROWN was born on 5 Aug 1798 and died 188?. 3 F ii. Nancy BROWN was born3 on 28 Dec 1799 in Canton, ME. She died on 24 Apr 1824 in Canton, ME. Nancy married Daniel BARTLETT4. Daniel was from Hartford. 4 M iii. Leonard BROWN was born5 on 18 Mar 1801 in Canton, ME. He died on 2 Sep 1824 in Canton, ME. + 5 M iv. John BROWN was born on 29 Dec 1802. 6 M v. Rhuben Proctor BROWN was born6 on 29 Jan 1805 in Canton, ME. 7 M vi. Jefferson BROWN was born7 on 22 Sep 1806 in Canton, ME. He died on 11 Oct 1806 in Canton, ME. 8 M vii. Arthur BROWN was born8 on 16 Oct 1807 in Canton, ME. He died on 12 Aug 1825 in Canton, ME. + 9 F viii. Rebekah/Rebecca Proctor BROWN was born on 5 Feb 1810. +10 F ix. Abigail Proctor BROWN was born on 29 Mar 1812 and died on 28 Dec 1893. 11 F x. Susanna C. BROWN was born9 on 16 Jul 1815 in Canton, ME. Susanna married Daniel WALKER. Daniel was born in Livermore. 12 M xi. Hiram BROWN was born10 on 9 Feb 1817 in Canton, ME. Second Generation 2. James BROWN (Aaron) was born13 on 5 Aug 1798 in Canton, ME. He died 188? in Grafton, ME. James married Mary THOMPSON. Mary was from Hartford. James and Mary had the following known children: 15 M i. James Monroe BROWN was born14 on 15 Nov 1825. Last known residence in 1882 in Hanover, ME. (per Campton Vital Records found at GAR Library) 16 M ii. Arthur BROWN was born15 on 24 Sep 1827. 5. John BROWN (Aaron) was born16 on 29 Dec 1802 in Canton, ME. John married Huldah. He was engaged as a carpenter in 1860. Living at that time in the household of Lorana Gifford, a tailoress, and her fourteen year old son, George. Interestingly enough, Lorana and her husband, and then toddler son, lived next door to the Jones' (Lewis and Rebekah and their children) in 1850. Robert may be the son of Robert, son of James in Madrid, ME, but this is only speculation at this time. Robert and Luzerne had the following children: 28 M i. Herbert A. SWETT35,36 was born on 20 Jul 1856 in Canton, Maine. He died on 13 Feb 1928 in Canton, Maine. Herbert is not on the 1860 Census enumeration, I dont know why. He obviously was alive lived to marry per below. Herbert married Emma F. HAYFORD. 29 M ii. Robert A. SWETT was born37 in 1857 in Maine. 30 F iii. Harriet H. In a 1943 newspaper clipping from the Portland Press Herald, Portland, Maine: "Mr. Hutchins, born at Kennebunk, son of John and Martha Russell Hutchins, spent his youth in that town and Biddeford. Regarding James Cone, b. 1850, this may not be too much help but there were only two folks by that name in the 1850 census of the county. They were: Hannah Con, age 75, born in Mass., living with the family of Clarisa Estes in Bethel. Judith Cone, age 70, born in NH, living with the family of Hasty & Statira Gammon in Lovell. Also, the various town histories often have a section on the clergy. Perhaps your people could be found there. That's about all I can offer. Larry Glatz Harrison, Maine

Lynchville is on the Crooked River, and near French Hill & Rattlesnake Mt., and near Mud Pond & Proctor Pond. It sits on Rte. 35 & Rte. 5 where they intersect, and it is in Oxford Co. I got this info from the DeLorme topographical map, "The Maine Atlas and Gazetteer". Hope this has been helpful to you. That was the only listing for any "Lynch" habitation. Pam: I'm not sure about Lynch "town," but there is a Lynchville, which is located at the intersection of Routes 5 and 35 in Albany. It is best known as the site of the famous Maine sign-post, which lists Mexico, Peru, China, etc. In earlier times (see History of Waterford, p.112, the area was also known as Lynch's Mills. Hope this helps. Larry Glatz Harrison, Maine
