I'm researching my Menard line which settled in Escanaba, MI having come from Quebec, possibly Ste-Agathe des Monts about two hundred north of Montreal. My grandmother Anna Marie Menard 's father was Naftalie (1856-1909 - name spelled many different ways) and Philomaine Belaique (d. 1896); Naftalie named his first born son Arthur; Naftalie was the son of Oliver Menard and Philomen Delisle. Philomen Delisle Menard died in Escanaba in 1886. I haven't found where Oliver died. Oliver seems to be an unusual name for a Frenchman and to also find the name Arthur makes me doubt this is a coincidence. I've arranged for a genealogy society to do some research for me. If it seems to connect up, I will let you know.
