She lists her birthday as April 1824 in the 1910 Census. Originally all records pointed to her name being Josephine MEORAND or MORIN but new information I just discovered after 31 years of searching leads me to believe her name was Josephine Eliza MENARD. Any help would be appreciated

Most times at the baptism, the parents and often the grandparents names were given. Same goes for the marriage records in the Catholic Church. Like Frances Palmer suggested, have you gotten his baptism or marriage records, or even the death records? Regards, KM Menard kadon@bellsouth.net

Usually there were one or more names following, and one of the other names was the one used to refer to that person. So your ancestor could have been baptized as Joseph Louis, but was known to most people as Louis. Have you been able to obtain his marriage or death records? Sometimes they will include his parents names. If you can get back to a marriage that took place in Quebec, we might be able to help you.

Naftalie MENARD (given name spelled many ways), son of Oliver MENARD and Philomen Delisle, born Dec. 17, 1853 in "Fr. Can." (family oral history indicates he was from Ste-Agathe-Des-Monts, Terrebonne Co., about 200 miles north of Montreal) died May 17, 1909 in Escanaba, MI. His mother and possibly his father moved with him to Escanaba in 1886. He married Philomaine Belaique, born May 22, 1859, died Sept. 6, 1896 in Escanaba, MI; daughter of Moses "Baleck" and Caroline. Some of her relatives may also have gone to Escanaba, Michigan. Her first born was Emma, b. June, 1879 in "Fr. Can." and siblings Arthur (Archie) and Mary also were born in "Fr. Can." Looking for help or guidance on how to find his birth or baptism record and marriage record.
