I can copy what i have from this rare book if it fits into your line. I should like to have your Bernier line. It may tie into my sisters husband's line which i will start on now.

There are/is a soldier Menard in the line. There are 2 places where things either skip or are at present lost. A friend is helping me. The Menards went back and forth from Quebec to NY seemly following the ship building trade and lumbering. some of the children were born in Q and at least one in NY. My gr, grandfather, Joseph b. 1844 d. 1922 in OH. Sometime the family moved to MI and at least 2 children were born there. The story is my g.grf was selected by the family to be a priest. He did not want to and so left home and went to OH. There is a strong bent to spirituallity in the family. Louise Bernier was his mother and Joseph M. was his father both b. in 1810. My gr.g. was Indian. I have seen Metis' after many M names in geneolgy lists. I am still getting organized. I'll send what I can but it willbe at least 2 wks. Emily

And since you have an interest in BERNIER it looks like I will work on that as my sister's husband is a BERNIER. AS to Father MENARD...He was the second missionary to Sault Ste. Merie . His death in 1661 was at the headwaters of the Black River. ( more later) He was closely alligned with the Ottawa Indians as his arrival the the Sault was with a flotilla of sixty ottawa canoes to the northern shores of Wisconsin early October, 1660 His trip was i think started in Quebec City. His intent was to impart the Christien faith through nnothern Michigan and Wisconsin. I cannot say anything of the Metis line from lack of knowledge. Does your information and timeline match ??
