I use some shiny stainless steel flat pans...gotten at a yard sale...that may have been pizza store pans in their day...Sides are about 2/3 inches tall...Not much bigger than the plate...Catches any spills, acts a tray...Son uses gold chargers...'Fancy, huh ? We laugh about it....Love em ! I make Pot roast in the Slow cooker...Just beef roast and a pkg. of onion soup mix, maybe a half cup of water if I remember...Eat with mashed potatoes and veggies the first day..Sandwiches the second day, then make soup using the leftover beef, can of tomatoes, a few bouillon cubes in hot water, several potatoes cut like French fries and a bag of frozen Stir fry veggies...
