Barb, As for potato planting after we till draw rows with the old push plow and drop them in, cover and let them grow(hopefully). Last year we had put out a lot of old alfalfa hay for mulch, it was still to deep to be able to till so just made holes with the hoe stuck potatoes in and pulled the hay back over them. They did pretty well for as dry as it was. they sure were clean. This year I have an old cow water tub that the bottom is no good in, put straw in it and potatoes in that just to see what happens. My granddaughter said she grew them in a pillowcase when she was in college. She went to a green college Warren Wilson at Ashville NC.
