Thanks for the update, Dougster ! Don't worry about boring us by re telling your adventures...Some of us are so old we love to be reminded ! lol....I'm just about down to that one book library, myself... If I eat too much sweets I get canker sores...Years of using salves, etc. on them...Now days I just cut out all sugar and they never need medicating...have had them since early school days at least...Glad I finally figured out the sugar connection. Doc says it has nothing to do with a family history of Diabetes....What do they know.....Lots but not all. Sis had Lychen-Plantus ...bad sores... Have considered growing the potatoes as you mentioned, but have never noticed a potato rooting up the stalk as tomatoes will...Will try your method..but thinking of using some small size spare tires...stacked..have read that will work..OR preferably an old laundry basket..Supposedly the vines will grow out through the holes in the sides...taters will stay hidden. Sounds like it would look cool...Have also seen shopping bags made from old T shirts by cutting expansion holes all around it..how would it be to cut one in slits here and there...Fill it a bit with dirt and hang it up..Keep watered and the vines should poke out through all those slits?...I got Miracle Grow garden soil that has fertilizer in it for 89 cents with a $3 off rebate { 30 lbs, I think} at the hardware store..so not much ventured...Now to wrestle that old holy t shirt off my hubby !
