MAY prepare one and plant some sprouted potatoes in it. Speaking of potatoes. I was down at the garden a couple days ago and noticed some small fingerling potatoes laying there from last year. ON THE TOP OF THE GROUND! I covered them up and will tend to them...We are only getting rain from this Spring storm romping across the South...At least 3 or 4 inches...Everything is greening up and fruit trees and flowering bushes are going wild with flowers...My young apple tree looks like it will have enough blooms to break the limbs..let alone wait for fruit. Jeanie, do you know the name of an apple tree that would bear early and had a smaller yellow apple. I only heard it referred to as the June apple tree. There was one in the barn lot (earlier it was where the log cabin stood) that would bear hundreds of apples. They made great fried apples and had many as a side dish during the summer. I know it was there during the depression as Dad talked of Grandpa and Grandma sharing with neighbors during those hard days. I tried to grow potatoes last year in a bin in compost. The plants were healthy and vigorous, but I only got about a dozen tiny potatoes. I'm thinking they didn't have a long enough growing season so I hope to plant them earlier this year.
