    3. Good Morning I want Doug to know I am thinking of him and Sherry, I have been thinking of you guys for a few days now. I have no words of wisdom for you, all I can say is hang in there, just think of today, not tomorrow, it will come soon enough. There are so many of us praying for you, I am surprised that airplanes can find space, with all the prayers flying up. We are all here for you, if you need us. I am planning on a lazy day today, it's over cast, a little on the cool side, they say maybe ?? a few showers tomorrow morning . Maybe I'll curl up with a good book, and make a easy dinner. Robert, your probable getting a little anxious about now, you are in my prayers, I know everything will go well with your surgery. When ever you get a chance, let us know how your doing ? Have a good Sunday everyone !!! Sully in cloudy California

    3. Good morning to you also Sully and all the other list members reading this. I echo your thoughts and prayers for Doug and Sherry. They have been down a rough road lately with lots of bumps and ruts and hills to climb but the last report gives them hope that the pathway will be smoother now. We are supposed to get up to 90 degrees today. Windy and partly cloudy tomorrow with temps down to mid 80's, pc on Tuesday with temps down to 75. Clear skies and sunny the rest of the week with 80 and 90 degree temps. Surgery went well. I was the doctor's last patient on Friday afternoon. The first thing they did was to put an IV in my left arm for saline solution and a port for injecting the anesthesia. My right shoulder was injected with a pain blocker and that is the last thing I remember until I woke up in the recovery room two hours later. I finally got home at about 5:30. The pain blocker kept the arm numb but finally wore off overnight. When I woke up Saturday morning I had a lot of pain in the shoulder. Really bad!I started on my pain med, Tylenol with codeine #3 tablet every 4-6 hours. I had a hard time finding a comfortable position lying down so I finally went into the living room and sat in a chair. By the time I went to bed last night the pain had subsided a great deal. My sister and my twin brother took turns staying with me. Bro stayed overnight Friday and Saturday and fixed my breakfast for me the next morning. Sister stayed with me during the day. So far I haven't had any problems but that could change tomorrow. That is the first time for a shower since surgery. So we need to find the easiest way to get my arm out of the sling contraption, then there are bandages to be removed. That might be somewhat painful but hopefully not as bad as Saturday morning. I have my first physical therapy session Wednesday morning. That will be an evaluation to see how much PT I will need and how often. Soon it will be just another memory. Thanks for all of your prayers and well wishes. I will keep you updated. 3. Hi, We are awaiting the arrival of a winter storm (yes, still another one with 7 inches) It is in the Dakotas right now moving towards us. They are getting 12-18 inches of white stuff. Their flooding is going to be extraordinary. Spring just does not want to come here this year. All of our prayers are with Doug and Sherry and Robert. AND, anyone else in need of one. Sully, dear cousin, you have become quite a writer. Have been trying to get back to some more genealogy and am trying to knit a sweater for one of my little great-granddaughter's. She has been trying to continue to wear one I made for her mom when she was 3 or 4, but it does not fit her anymore. She said," I want one so I can save it for my little girl, when I grow up" (she is 7 as of a few days ago.) So, I said, in a weak moment, that maybe I would have to make her one so she could do that. (I have 4 other little girls as well) Hope I don't live to regret the fall out!!!! I am not as fast as I used to be, and prefer to crochet. Thank heaven that there is a lady here in the building that fixes all my knitting boo boos for me. Have a great day, everyone. 3. Hello Shirley..... I want to thank you and everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Sherry is doing so-so... I hate to bore everyone with our woes but here is an update. I'm not certain the last bit of news I've sent to the group, so if I am repeating myself, I apologize. Since Christmas, Sherry has lost close to seventy pounds. Yes, that's a lot especially for a gal that was maybe 20 lbs overweight. What happened was that the chemo drugs caused sores in her mouth, which made it impossible for her to eat. Finally, one day in the office of the Oncologist, I raised hell. I loved that they were keeping her cancer at bay but that I was tired of watching her starve to death. The doctor agreed to cut her chemo drug by fifty percent. Almost immediately, the sores began to clear up and she began to eat again. Sometime next month we'll do more scans and will learn the status of the cancer. Sometime in January, Sherry underwent surgery to remove the Gall bladder. Again, her appetite improved... about three weeks later, she began to develop severe pain in her abdomen....soooooooooo, in mid-March, she was hospitalized for a week while they tried to figure that out. As it turned out, she had a kink in her small intestine, which called for more surgery. Since then, she has shown improvement. She is eating a tiny bit better and is slowly regaining her strength. Week before last, she actually gained two pounds which made her sooooooo happy... Last week, she lost four! <sigh> That, my friends is the latest. Thank you for listening. Gardens seem to be the hot topic of late. Now, I'm the first to confess that I am not a gardener. Although we will not have a garden this year, I did buy a couple of tomato plants 'cuz it just ain't Spring without tomato plants. lol There has been a lot of discussion about planting potatoes....Agan, I'm not gardener but I will tell of an experiment an ex-BIL did a few years ago He planted potatoes in two small above ground planters. Think "Square foot gardens"...He planted his cuttings and when the plant began to grow, he would spread more dirt on top.... let them grow some more and then add more dirt. The end result was that he had an amazing amount of potatoes from those two little plots. The more dirt he added provided more dirt for the plan to make more seed/taters. I found her experiment absolutely amazing... Hope this helps.. Gotta go and finish my taxes... lol The Dougster :-)*** On Sun, Apr 14, 2013 at 11:58 AM, Shirley Sullivan <[email protected]>wrote: > Good Morning > > > I want Doug to know I am thinking of him and Sherry, I have been thinking > of you guys for a few days now.
