I remember my mother disliked them and I never saw one for years. They even show them in Vermont Country store now. On a trip by car to Florida we saw them for sale in almost every yard. Our parents shaped our thingking back in the 30's and 40's so much more than they do now. We didn't have a phone until the 40's, she didn't drive, and my circle of friends was small. We used quilts my grandmother had made or flannel sheets. Oh how I loved it when my mohter put those on in the fall. Freezing in Chicagoland. Coldest St Pat's day in 30 years--a high of 23 on the first day of Spring, and no relief in sight. The few robins I see are having a hard time finding bugs.
