    3. Shirley: I could have written this first paragraph!! As our eyesight has faded quite a bit, we find it harder to see under most condition. Those new bulbs are all but worthless. We have gone to a store that sells lamps and bulbs and got help picking out lamps, etc. Not Lowe's or Home Depot or Wal-Marts. None of their employees know one lamp from another nor one bulb from another. Our best luck was with a store that also has an electrical business where they wire homes and businesses. Also, did you know you can get "readers" that are bi-focals. I have one pair that was done wrong so have to get new lenses...I have the computer part (2.0 mag) on the top and the reader part (3.5 mag) on the bottom. I find this is well worth the cost; when doing taxes or genealogy I previously had to keep changing glasses. Now I can look down and see the numbers; look up and see what I am typing on the screen. Also great for running an adding machine!! Good luck...I know what a pain this can be first hand!! I am going out to buy more lamps, that I can use a more powerful watt bulbs in . Many of the lamps I have, say not to use anything over a 75 watt bulb in them, so I need new lamps, when your vision is impaired, you need all the light you can get. I have had 20/20 vision my whole life, even when I needed reading glasses, my distance vision was 20/20. My left eye is making up for my right eye, I have been wearing a stronger reader, it helps clear up the blurriness of the right eye, and also seems to make it easier to watch TV too. Losing some of your site, you don't have good depth perception, I notice it especially when I went to cut a tag off a new blouse, I kept missing the string, I was going in front of it or in back of it, it took several times before I got it cut. I am getting new lamps for my bedroom, especially next to my bed, I want ! one with a swing arm on it, so I can bring it closer to the bed or closer to my chair, where ever I am at the time. I have found out that you pay for what you get, especially in lamps, if you use a lamp a whole bunch, get a good one, it will last longer and work better. I like the lamps that are easy to turn off and on, some hurt my fingers, the knob is so small, and rough, I have arthritis in my fingers, and that doesn't help ether. I like the switch that you push in to turn the light on and push it again to turn the light off, they don't make them that much any more, they mostly have the round knob you turn, they also wear out the fastest. My husband has repaired a few of the lamps, he buys a new cord with the part you put the bulb in, and they are now are easier for me to turn off and on. It's early here, I woke up and was so hot, I had to get up and cool down. We are going to have a beautiful day here, but by the end of next week, cool down and maybe rain. So will take advantage of this weekend, and get out and about in the fresh air. Yesterday it was so good to open my sliding glass door, and the front door, and some of my windows, let in fresh clean air to air out the house. Felt good to feel the sun on my skin, didn't stay out long, but was nice all the same. I have 2 more days of antibiotics drops for my eye, than I am free, can go where ever I want. I almost wish we could barbecue, could make potato salad, they have corn on the cob on sale at Stater Bros. market, I'll ask my husband if he would like to barbecue some chicken this Saturday, MAYBE !!! Well, I think I'll go back to bed now, see if I can get a few more minutes of sleep !!!!
