    3. Oh, did I play with paper dolls, you bet I did. I collected many kinds, but liked best the beautiful ladies, after I punched out the dolls, there was the clothes to cut out. My grandmother always had the time to cut out the clothes for me, my mother never had the time. As I got a little older, I became a good cutter too, like my grandmother. I use to keep the paper dolls in a shoe box, with all their clothes, I was very careful with my dolls. My grandmother would glue the ones that were getting old, to card board, then cut them out, so they were stiff again and almost as good as new. I had bad teeth as a child, I had to go to the dentist a lot, I hated to go, my mom would buy me some paper dolls on the way home, I guess it was pay-ola of some kind. For having such bad teeth as a child, it's surprising that I still have all my own teeth, but have a few caps. Louise I have missed you, you haven't written for a long time, is everything all right ??? I saw on TV, there's a big snow storm in the east, how about you Barb, is it snowing there ??? It was overcast the whole day, maybe got a little lighter in the afternoon, but than quickly got dark again, and cold. They keep saying maybe rain, than they change their mind on what day, so it's just damp and cold, and overcast. Going to Sam's and Walmart tomorrow, need a few things, also a new DVD is out Les Miserables and next Tuesday Lincoln comes out on DVD, really want to see that. We got Argo, and Life Of Pi I liked ARGO, very suspenseful, I can see why it got best picture, and Life Of Pi, I didn't like watching the Tiger eating other animals, but the ending was good. We don't go to the movie theaters anymore, my husband says they are filled with germs, people coughing, your eating popcorn and candy and your hands are on the arms of the chairs, than you grab some popcorn with those same hands, he said all the germs on the arms of the chairs go right in your mouth !!! I said take some wipes and wipe off the arms, he said that's not good enough.. I can't win I guess !!!! It's late here, so going to bed now. Sully, in cold and overcast California !!!

    3. I can remember when we lived in Arkansas, the Sunday "funnies" (nowadays they are called comics) pages always had paper dolls with clothes, printed on the last page. My three sisters would always take that page, after everyone had a chance to read the funnies, and cut out the dolls and clothes and they kept them in a shoe box. I don't remember if there were any male dolls or if they were all females. Not being one to play with dolls myself, I never paid that much attention to them. The girls collected these paper dolls all during WWII and probably had a couple of boxes of them when we relocated to Arizona in 1945. I am not certain but am reasonably sure that the boxes of dolls came West with the girls. The two oldest girls and the next to oldest of my brothers came out first. They traveled on a Greyhound bus. I don't remember how many days the trip took. My dad had a regular job at that time and had bought a small house so the family had a place to live. That was "The House In The Desert" about which I have written several times. The weather here has been more spring like for the past few days after the record breaking heat spell we had last week. I have been able to begin the weeding process in the front yard. I want to get rid of a lot of the more invasive desert wild plants before they bloom and set seed which will result in even more to get rid of next year. I have also been removing a lot of the African dasies for the same reason. I had two pre-op heart tests yesterday. First was an echo cardiogram followed by a nuclear stress test. The stress test was done on a treadmill and lasted about 10-12 minutes. I was told that I would be radio active for a couple of days. If I was going to have to fly on a commercial airline during that time, I would need to have a letter explaining the reason for the alarm going off during pre screening at the airport. The testers were pleased with the way I handled the tests. I will have to go back next Monday to discuss the results. I have an appointment with my primary care doctor this morning. He is going to have to re-order the outdated chest x-ray and blood work. 3. I played with paper dolls for years. My uncle was stationed in Belgium during WW2. He sent me a box of French paper dolls-they were very sturdy heavy weight cardboard or gypsum. There were three dolls ,a redhead, blonde and brunette-they all had different length hair and features-they were beautiful-pages of clothing came with and made of nice heavy paper, easy to cut out and use. My favorite was Mimi-she had dark hair, kind of a pixie cut, my grandmother gave me a special drawer in her sideboard to keep my stuff in(being one of eight children)so my siblings would not ruin the stuff. I would play with the paper dolls on my grandmothers dining room table for hours and would try to draw and color new outfits for them-some came out pretty good! I spent years with these same three paper dolls--wonderful memories!!!
