Jeannie, What a truly beautiful tribute to your mother !!! She was a strong, loving and Godly Women, a women determined to keep her family to there, in spite of all the problems of being a single mother, after your father died. I don't think there are many women today, that could have been the women your mother was. Life is strange, your mother working so hard to be a good mother, and so many women today fall apart if they can't get their nails done that week. My daughter was telling me how many of her friends, (the women) that don't even know how to cook, they eat out almost every night, or get take out. Happy Mothers Day Jeannie, you were blessed to have such a wonderful mother !! Sully
What a lovely tribute to your motther. I too had a wonderful mother and I still miss her too. One of the best decisions we ever made was to build a house next door to my parents. My Dad became the father my husband never had {his was an alcoholic, 56 when Dick was born and never there for him} and my children are still reaping the benifits of living with their grandparents next door. It could have gone the other way. The three of them grew up to have a love of the older generation--so many lessons they learned by just living. My parents died 15 years apart and we were able to seamlessly blend my mother into our family. She never interfered in our rules and could send them home when they got on her nerves. I am having a wonderful Mothers Day. My son went to church with me and then we went to Office Depot and he and my daughter bought me a new printer. I bought myself a new key board and mouse--I gave my old ones a bath in Coke and they have to go. When I got through buying those and two batches of ink I spent as much as the printer. My other son [his wife] plants my 7 boxes on my deck each year for Mothers Day and my birthday. It is supposed to be 38 here tonight. The plants all look terrible in all the nurseries so will get planted later this month. The only up side to the cool weather is that the flowering trees and shrubs last much longer. I have a lilac outside my kitchen window that my dad planted over 70 years ago and it is in full bloom. It smells so good. Hope all of you had a wonderful day.
