I, too, would like to know why she left the list. She has been on a long time. I know she was broken hearted last year when her grand daughter has a miscarriage. My son just spent 4 days in the hospital for a heart condition that they haven't been able to diagnose. I have been exhausted, saying I wasn't worried [HA] but our emotions often come out in ways we don't understand. I am having a giggle because he has to see a cardiologist that specializes in electrical problems of the heart, and he was an electrician for over 25 years. At the end of 4 days one of the many doctors that he saw said it wasn't life threatening, but they did want to find out why his pulse goes so low, but it could be done out patient. I know he will follow up because he is really a good patient. I apparently didn't get the email either. I am not sure which Barbara this is. I have at least four on the birthday list. How about we get back to some good old fashioned memories? I have been thinking about all the snow I have had to shovel over my life. As a kid it was fun, as I got close to my teens-I shoveled my grandparents driveway and walks and I earned a whole fifty cents(yes,.50)in 1954 or 55 that was a good amount of money for a girl to have in her pocket! As we got older we shoveled to help our folks etc. so they could go to work or the corner store for cigarettes etc. or so the bread or milkman could deliver on the usual days. After I was married, I loved going out and clearing the steps and walks-my husband did the driveway with a plow. As the kids grew they would help shovel until they were old enough to do it all and I stayed inside and made the hot chocolate! Now in my old age-there are no kids anyplace who care to help shovel my car out--on Sunday I blew out my left knee shoveling--was awake all night in pain-yesterday the swelling was really huge---iced it down all day, the swelling is going down now but darn-someone should help the old folks! We have asked Boy Scout Troop, CYO at churches, and all we can think of and nobody lets their kids go shovel walks are dig out cars to make a few $$$$. Now we have had another 8 or more inches of snow today---------bring back the good old days when kids knocked at the door to see if you wanted them to shovel for you!!!! Helen, in cold and very snowy New England!
Fortunately I have never lived in an area which required snow removal or Arctic clothing AND I like it that way. I do however LOVE the look of a pretty snow covered field or meadow. J -- There are no noble wars - just noble warriors. Posted on the Vietnam Wall
