Yes we do pay for our good weather, it's been raining most the night and morning, a little sunshine peaked through a few minutes ago, but not it's gotten dark again. It's going to rain off and on thru Sunday afternoon, with some thunder and lightening too. We are going to get snow in the mountains, all weekend. I went on our WEb-cam, not snowing yet, but they say soon. We have never had problems with mud slides here at our home, but you just never know what's going to happen where water is a concern. Most people don't have flood insurance, unless they live in a flood zone, but at times things do flood, some times as a freak of nature !!! The mud flows are in the area that had wildfires a few months ago, up in the Glendora hills, right below the San Gabriel mountains. With no grass or shrubs, trees, to hold the dirt in the hills, and when we get a lot of rain in a short time, that dirt turns to mud, with rocks, old tree limbs and any debre left over from the wild fires, it rolls down the hills, clogs the water basins, and the mud than runs down street, and over into any yards, and into homes. They have taken measures by using K-rail (big concrete dividers like in the middle of freeways), and sand bags everywhere they think the mud could flow, but sometimes the mud is too much for it and just goes around them, over them, or just pushes them out of the way. It is sad to see these people lose their homes, some old like us, they never rebuild, not enough insurance to cover the cos t !! Keep these people in your prayers, they could even lose their lives. Have been watching the news as people sandbag around their homes in CA..in fear of the mud slides coming off the fire denuded hillsides..Apparently fires turned soil into clay...which will slide right off the slopes. My goodness, Californians give up a lot for that laid back lifestyle! I have a nephew in LA, but don't think he lives anywhere near the countryside where mud slides are expected. He's going to college now...Jeannie T~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ____________________________________________________________ Do THIS before eating carbs (every time) 1 EASY tip to increase fat-burning, lower blood sugar & decrease fat storage http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/53101b71774c81b71184dst03duc http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mbousman1/memory.htm ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to MEMORY-LANE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
