    2. Thank you so much for that information about the rice socks. I was told by my eye specialist to put warm compresses on my eyes 3 times a day. I would boil water in a pot and put a clean white washcloth in it. Had to wait for it to cool before using. I wanted it to all be sterile for my eyes. The rice compresses are so much easier. I have at least 2 dozen pairs of white socks, not a pair are 100% cotton, the closest I could come to it were 80% cotton and 10% nylon. Anyhow I boiled these in water and let dry, added 1/2 cup of rice, put it in the microwave on a clean paper towel for 1 minute. It works so much better than the warm compresses. Incidentally they told me at several stores they no longer make 100% cotton socks as they wear out too fast. I'm sure they are still made somewhere. Hot compresses for eye problems: 1/2 cup dry rice I cotton sock Put rice in sock- tie knot (so that the rice feels like a loose bean bag.) Put sock in microwave on high for 1 minute (Be very careful - when taking out of microwave-it will be very hot.) Wrap in a dry washcloth hold on eye 5-10 minutes 3 times a day. Morning , noon, night. They say we may get thunderstorms this PM. This time of year with the warmer weather we tend to get them and then can get wind and have small tornados. Not huge but kind of mini ones that can still rip out trees. That is all I need. Yesterday we went to the eye Dr. for Ken for his dry eyes. His ducts are cloged up, we did some drops, but didn't do much good. So now 4 time a day have to put warm compresses on his eyes for 10 min. he said we can use rice in a sock and heat in the microwave. Then massage the eyes for 30 seconds, then wipe them, to get the debrie wiped out as he says, didn't see much this time. Then the special eye drops from them that you can't get at the drug store. Gees. So he is going to love having to sit down and do this, before it was just drops four times a day. After the first two days he didn't want to do them. If it was me I would be doing it on myself, but he just doesn't understand. Oh well, rainy so what else am I going to do. Have a good day out there, how are you doing Doug? 3. Yes, mine come out a little warm, but doesn't take long for them to cool enough for him. When the Dr. was telling us this I am thinking like you, hot water, cloth and all that. So much easier. Mine are white socks and thought they were all cotton, but maybe not, still works. He wants it on for 10 min. Then the massaging and then cleaning the eyes. They gave me a packet with a damp cloth thing in it, of course one use. So used that then mixed up the 1 part baby shampoo, and 10 parts water. I just made one batch, and poured a little in a cup and used the cotton swabs to clean the eye lashes. This way I can pour out a little for the job and throw away after using it. Always afraid of contaminating the eye, but this is on the out side any way. Just kind of a pain in the neck doing it. Still just kind of showers out, but the noon news said this is just the beginning. Supposed to be more late this afternoon, and possible thunder and lightning, and possible a tornado with the wind. I am sure we will make it. As long as the elec. doesn't go out. Don't like that.
