    1. [ML] Daddy's Story about a little country church
    2. grandbanna
    3. It's been a while since I wrote about one of my Daddy's stories so here is another one. We were driving around looking at all the places he lived and worked when he told these stories. We were at a certain place on a country road when Daddy stopped me. He pointed to an old road bed and told about several families who lived close together in that area. He said the road went all the way through and came out on another familiar road that led to a little country church. On their way to church they had to cross the "bottom" and two bridges in a wagon pulled by two mules. They didn't carry a light. The mules just followed the road home. At night when the mules would cross the bridge, they would hug each other and you could hear the clop, clop, clop of their hoofs on the wooden bridge. While they were at church, the kids would all go to sleep in the backs of the wagons. He said that many times parents would come home with the wrong kids but they would take them back home the next day. He said all these families that lived close together shared their food. If one of them had a garden they would share their vegetables with another family who had beef or hogs. One man had a syrup mill and they would trade syrup for vegetables or meat. Martha
