Our Red Hat group has an old fashioned tea each spring and four of us act as hostesses. One of the gals is a great "trail boss" and the others are good followers. I made cream of asparagus soup for the first time today. My husband grew up in a family hit hard by the depression and soup was often the meal so he never wanted me to make it. I looked it up on Google, decided on the recipe that looked the easiest and with lower calories. My first attempt turned out really great. Now I have to triple the recipe and make it for next Sat. I miss my husbands height and strength and have to think ahead so I don't do something stupid like dumping it all over. I used my immersion blender and it did a great job, but I will probably have to divide the larger amount and blend it in batches. Oh how I miss the days when I didn't have to think ahead--but it's better than a nursing home. The snow we had Tues still hasn't fallen off the trees and bushes. It rained, froze, and then snowed so it's stuck. Stay warm. Grace On Thu, Mar 13, 2014 at 4:23 PM, Joyce Ragels <jragels@gmail.com> wrote: > Living in Arizona, I enjoy not having to leap or spring. I tried putting tomato plants in big pots last year, used good stuff to put it in, but all I got was a lot of branches and about 5 tomato'es out of 7 plants. Put some in the ground and got same result. I know the ground is over used but what about the ones I put in pots? My step mother grows the most unbelievable plants in pots. Tomatoes by the ton, way better than what I get in my garden, and giant pots of herbs. I think you need to fertilize more often, because when you water, it eventually gets washed out of the pot, and you need to water more often because the pots get dry sooner. I think last year was not a good year for tomatoes, though. I heard a lot of people complaining about that, so try again and maybe this year will be better.
