We're high and forever dry up here on this ridge, but talking to my sister in Sikeston, MO gave me a whole new slant on the flooding over there around Cairo....I used to drive through there when we lived in Southern Ill....It's a VERY old historic town...with some nice buildings...She says they blew a hole in a levee to keep the entire town from being sundered, then another hole later on...THEN a hole to allow some of the trapped water to flow back into the River. This excess water has been diverted from flooding Cairo { Pronounced K-row }into over 1,000 acres of farmland....some of the best in the country. That water will most likely prevent any crops being planted this year, as the water may stand there till late summer or early winter...I can imagine the lawsuits...plus it may make some food prices higher. I think they grow a lot of corn and soybeans there...Thanks to the drainage system Sis is safe from the flooding, but some of her rental homes are in harm's way...She also told me that water is flooding towns as it heads down river for New Orleans....Eeeeekkk! Haven't they had enough already ? I guess I thought after they got their flooding out of the way the water would just dry up...Duh ! I have some excuse for not thinking that through..I have a cold and sore throat.....but getting better....Prayers for flood victims and for those in the terrible tornadoes we had in the South recently........Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ Penny Stock Jumping 3000% Sign up to the #1 voted penny stock newsletter for free today! http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4dc23e7fd86621168am06duc
