Why don't you plant a yam or two ? Just wait till it's 6 or so inches tall, skin it off the tuber and set it out...keep watered. It will sprout roots up and down the stalk. We used to grow LOTS of them and Dad made a plant bed...We just pulled the plants off the old potatoes...I always find a sprouted one during the late summer seems like and plant it in flower pots that have lost their' tenants' . They make a real pretty vine and sometimes small sweet potatoes before frost....Nice bushy vines... I've grown yam's in a jar of water..and it's great for kiddoes to see..also have cut off the top of a sprouting carrot and put it in a shallow can lid of water...It'll grow a pretty bushy top...When onions sprout in warm weather I set them in dirt and can cut off green tops for a long time.....Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Fri, 13 May 2011 13:38:25 -0700 Shirley Sullivan <sullysoil66@msn.com> writes: > > I found a Yam I had forgotten about, there were really two, but one > turn rotten.
