Our neighbor has a weeping cherry tree (I think that is what she said it is); looks like an umbrella. She has hung plastic Easter eggs all over it. Kids love to look at it.... I remember learning how to boil eggs in mom's big kettle, usually used for making soups and tomato juice. Mixing colors to get the shades I wanted. Where did we add the vinegar, to make the color take? Writing on the eggs with the little wax pencil and those color transfers for the eggs. Remember the eggs that were not found and squashed later. Dad would take boiled eggs in his lunch for several days so that they were not wasted. How long would a boiled egg stay good in those early refrigerators or an ice box? Somewhere along the way, I learned to blow out the egg. Those were harder to get the color even. We usually used the insides for scrambled eggs. I may do an Easter Tree next year with the blown eggs.
