Uh, you had a 3 foot long piece of board in your hand that you'd pried off with an 18 inch pry bar....and it didn't occur to you to hit that bugger over the head ? Tsk, tsk. tsk....Just think , you could have bonked him on the head, cut his head off, hung him up to bleed out, skinned his hide off to make a snakeskin belt for your hard working wife, then rolled him in flour and fed him to your returning missus for lunch.....Tsk, tsk, tsk....Sure would have saved you looking over your shoulder, so to speak, for the rest of the day...I've found over the years that one good hit to the head will most times kill a snake.......Always wanted to eat one...tastes like chicken, I've heard. Lying just behind the piece of wood was a rattler!!!!! Probably less that 2-feet away from me.... fortunately, it was early in the day > and rather cool. The rattler was moving slow.. in fact, he was not moving at all.... Of course my pistol was back at the main house. The good/bad news is that by the time I got back with my pistol, the snake > had moved. The bad part is that I don't have a clue as to where he went. LMAO.... the rest of the day I was crawling all around the front of the house removing and replacing lumber. It would have been much more fun if I hadn't had to keep watching for that rattler!
