Launched 6 1/2 years ago on a voyage of some 95 million miles, Messinger was successfully inserted into it's planned orbit around the planet Mercury at approximately 7:00 p.m. EDT last night. It will be a few days before NASA turns on the instruments aboard Messinger and begins to collect data. In the meantime, click on the link in their message and read about what NASA hopes to learn from this historic mission.     3. Amazing, simply amazing. Space has always been something that I have been interested in. My question is 'how did they do that'. How can they send a message to a spaceship? How did they do that. How can Nasa control something so far away? How did they know how to build it? Amazing.
