I've been wanting to get a Jack Russell or other small dog for a long time now, but hubby says it costs as much to take a dog or cat to the vet as it does for a human to go to a Dr. , so he's put his foot down...I see an ad for a group that helps Seniors with vet bills, pet food, meds...Actually, I think a small dog would be a lot of company for HIM as he walks about the yard and piddles in the garden...Before my little 4 1/2 pound Chihuahua passed on to dog Heaven, he was a great comfort to me when I was outside...If anyone set foot in the yard he went into Doberman mode and alerted me...Since out back yard is almost perfectly private this was a Godsend...That was before Hubby retired...noiw HE is the watchdog!
