NASA has finally decided to bid farewell to the Mars rover Spirit. Not having been able to make contact in over a year, they figured that Spirit was done for and will not make further attempts to rouse him/her. Click on the link below which takes you to the NASA Science News homepage and read the full story of the accomplishments of this robot that was only supposed to last for a few months. It traveled about 8km which equals just under five miles (I think I converted that correctly). Talk about the little engine that could. The sister robot "Endeavor ?" is still going strong.
