    3. There is an interesting tidbit in the weekly newsletter from Data Doctors concerning a new operating system being developed by MICROSOFT...who else. The working title for this system is Windows 8. You can click on the sixth item, Whats new in Windows 8. There is a short video which is apparently the first in a series of videos to be released over the next year (if I heard correctly) giving a brief look at the new system and how it works. It is apparently going to be a touchscreen system which might render your current monitor unusable. Time will tell! If you are not familiar with Data Doctors and want to know more you can subscribe to the newsletter on their website by scrolling to the bottom of the page and click on "manage subscription". Check out this new feature, available right now, here! Geek Speak of the Week: LTE LTE - The primary technology behind 4G - the evolution of 3G networks. Where 3G made mobile data a reality, 4G will make it a much better one. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. Here is what LTE does/offers: Much faster upload and download speeds than 3G. Under ideal conditions, LTE can easily reach download speeds of over 150 megabits per second, and upload speeds of over 80 megabits per second. More capacity than 3G - an LTE network can support more users in a single area Larger cell size. A single LTE cell tower can cover up to 100km or 62 miles. While that size will be greatly diminished in a heavy urban area, it's still a lot better than 3G. Compatibility - LTE is designed to be compatible with existing standards. Ease of upgrade - Part of the reason it has taken so long to develop LTE is that it is planning forward a lot. The networks are being designed so that implementing upgrades further down the line will be much easier. Security: Leaky Smartphone Apps for iPhone & Android A research firm (ViaForensics) recently found that some of the top downloaded apps put users personal info at risk. Apps from Foursquare, Netflix and LinkedIn along with others often store users sensitive data in unencrypted, readable files on mobile devices. Read on to find out more about Leaky Smartphone Apps... Mobile App of the Week: Snapseed Photo Editing Snapseed is a new image-editing app from Nik (a leading developer of software and plugins for the desktop). The level of polish is high, and the price is right - just $5. See more about and get Snapseed here. Weekly Advice Column: Tips for Reducing Cellphone Radiation Exposure A recent report from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), which is part of the World Health Organization lists mobile phone use in the same category as lead, gasoline engine exhaust, and chloroform. Officially, cell phone radiation is listed as a "carcinogenic hazard" according to their findings. To put this into perspective, the same scoring system has put some pickled vegetables and coffee in the same category, so this report is by no means a link suggesting cell phones cause cancer but it has stirred the controversy up again. With this in mind, we look at 5 quick tips that can help you reduce cellphone radiation exposure. The Radio Program: E3, Microsoft Wins, iCloud & New Mac OS!
