    3. I grew up caling water fountain bubblers, because they were, in fact, bubblers. Enjoy the short article and picture. http://www.onepagewonder.com/cat/Grab+Bag/Benson+Bubblers Elaine

    3. My aunt-by-marriage worked for years at the Benson Hotel in Portland, nice article. I see there are others on the page to read. Clearly these are bubblers, but I don't remember anyone in my family ever using the word, so I wouldn't have associated it. 3. I never called the water fountains anything but water fountains. This is an interesting article on Portland. I learned things I never knew before and I've lived in and around Portland for the past 57 years. I have never been one to go downtown very much though. Thanks for the article Elaine. 3. I never heard of a drinking fountain called a bubbler. I figured it would be a fountain that has the water running all the time. Not a drinking water fountain. Wouldn't want to drink out of a pond with the water running in it. 3. While I knew what bubblers were/are, I do not know if I have ever seen any. These were beautiful and very clean. I disliked regular water fountains due to seeing snotty nose kids touch the handles and men spit in them. The Germ Police of today would have a real hay day with water fountains. 3. Ewww, Marilyn. I used to enjoy salad bars that were frequent in supermarkets here until I watched a kid cough all over the greens. I put down my container and went home and made my own salad, and never went to a salad bar again. Ick! I don't even want to know what kinds of horrible things we end up consuming when we eat out. The visuals stay locked in my head forever. Ick! And I don't buy organic ... and am glad I don't, what with the German organic farm being the possible source of the new EColi going around. I realize that in the olden days the only food you got was so-called organic. But that's just me, and I don't know if people are using infected manure to grow their crops.
