I have to get a new printer and don't know what kind to get. If you like yours would you please let me know. I do how two in mind. HPdeskjet 1050 all-in-one (Model CH346A#BIH) $34.00 Canon Pizma photo MP250 $32.00 Barb tipperboo12@msn.com
Barb, I use an HP DeskJet 952C. It is not an all in one machine. I have had it about 10 years now and have had very few problems with it. If I had to get a new printer I might go with one made by Kodak. You will find the cost of ink cartridges for the HP will run between $70 - $75 if you buy the twin pack that contains a black cartridge and a color cartridge. I have never priced them at Wal*Mart, Costco, or Sam's Club. They might be cheaper at any of those locations. I had a color cartridge refilled one time and was not satisfied with the quality of the ink that was used. It only cost me about $25 for the refill. I went to Staples and bought an HP color cartridge and tossed the other one. I don't have any personal knowledge about the Kodak printer but I do know that the ink is not as costly as HP. I had a different printer, but I don't remember what kind it was. I thought I would have the ink cartridges refilled, it would be cheaper. I took the printer in with me so they would see what I had. They took forever refilling my cartridges. Finally, they came out and told me that they couldn't get the new cartridges to work in my printer. They worked at it some more, then finally they said my printer didn't work. I told them it was working when I brought it in. They were going to leave it at that, but I finally asked for my printer back. They asked why I wanted it if it didn't work. I said it didn't matter, I wanted my printer back. I think they were going to get it working and they would have a new printer for free. I now have a HP all-in-one printer. I have problems with it every so often, but I keep working with it or have my daughter figure out what's wrong. I'm satisfied with it.No more refilled cartridges for me. I buy them new every time to make sure I don't have any more problems.Emma > From: dback1935@msn.com > To: memory-lane@rootsweb.com > Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2011 21:21:26 -0700 > Subject: Re: [ML] printer > > > Barb, > > I use an HP DeskJet 952C. Did I say that I have had few, if any, problems with my HP DeskJet printer? I tried to print a confirmation receipt for a bill I paid on line late yesterday. It would not print! I tried a couple of times but it still would not print. I didn't think about it much at the time. This morning, I got a notice from one of my utility companies that I had a new bill online. I went to the site and pulled up the bill and tried to print it. IT WOULD NOT PRINT! I checked the owner's manual for suggestions to solve the problem. It said to print a test page. I did that and it printed perfectly. I checked the status of the print cartridges and the printer told me they were OK, not low on ink. I can't figure out what the problem is. If the cartridges are OK and the test page prints OK what the Sam Hill is wrong? I really don't want to buy a new printer but if nothing else can be done I guess I will have to. Suggestions anyone? I noticed when I checked the Troubleshooter page from the computer that it says my system is Windows XP. That was correct until I upgraded to Windows 7. I may try to delete the printer software from the computer and using the installation disk (if I can find it), re-install the software and see if that solves the problem. Don't know why it should make any difference since the printer was working fine yesterday morning but doesn't want to work now. GRRR!
