I remember having the mumps when I was in the 3rd grade. My mumps started on one side, then moved to the other. I remember watching Shirley Temple movies on TV. I haven't heard about anyone getting mumps in years. So sorry you are suffering with this. Sorry to hear about Bob's mother, too. Or you could do as we do..Skip the ball games and snack around as usual...We started re doing the kitchen stuff today and hubby lost his religion so many times he can probably be called irreligious...Got used to him tossing stuff if it got in his way and sat there on my stool thinking..'He breaks it he has to clean it up and I get to go buy new ones!' Oddly enough , nothing broke..dang it..and he toddled off to Masons...What can I say..the man's a mixed blessing..but then aren't they all ???? Oh for the days when I got all this stuff done while he was gone to work...and I was strong enough to do it all...JneT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Sat, 1 Feb 2014 17:13:34 -0500 (EST) Sullyshirl73@aol.com writes: > Planed my menu for our Super Bowl Party, always make home made > Nacho's, > fry my own tortilla chips in strips, refried beans, than I make > spicy ground > beef, two kinds of cheese, green chilies, diced tomatoes, 3 kinds of > salsa, > Oh also sliced avocado and to top it off sour cream, everyone puts > on what > they like, I look forward to nacho's every year, to around it off > with lime > beer, or Margaritas. George's brother had this disease and he got mean. He went to bed at 9:00pm and forced his wife to go with him. Once she tried to get up and he punched her. After dinner he wanted to go to a specific diary queen, not the one closest to his home. He was adament about it. Another time he insisted that it was Sunday and got dressed up and made her get dressed up to . She drove to church and of course no one was there. The pastor happened to be there and he told her that he thinks its about time to put him in a nursing home. The had no room for him at the VA so she had to put him in a private nursing home. She got a bill for $30,000. When a room opened up at the VA they decided that he should stay where he was at and paid the bill after that. George, I think is getting pre-alzheimers symptoms. My Dad got to where he didn't know what a razor was for or how to shave. He wouldn't shave for days then try & it would pull and he'd swear a blue streak. After a spell of this I just took the razor away & the lady who cut his hair would trim his beard at the same time so it always looked neat. He had a beard for probably five years. I went through this with my mother; both of you have my sincerest sympathy. We tried to keep her home, but one day her doctor said it was no longer safe. He found a bed for her in a nursing home that specialized in Alzheimer's. I thought she would be upset, but she wasn't. She was really happy; she had "friends" to talk to, watch TV with. She had forgotten who we were long before this; no enjoyment in family at all. She actually seemed happy to see us after she moved into the home. It is a hard disease; harder still for what the family they are leaving. Planed my menu for our Super Bowl Party, always make home made Nacho's, fry my own tortilla chips in strips, refried beans, than I make spicy ground beef, two kinds of cheese, green chilies, diced tomatoes, 3 kinds of salsa, Oh also sliced avocado and to top it off sour cream, everyone puts on what they like, I look forward to nacho's every year, to around it off with lime beer, or Margaritas. My granddaughters husband to be, just turned 22, so I bought a cake ( I still don't have a oven, so can't bake him a cake) they put Happy Birthday on it and so, THAT'S DESSERT. Ones first impulse is to laugh out loud at a Senior citizen getting Mumps, but it is NO laughing matter to you, I'm sure. I have heard that we older folks really have a terrible time with childish maladies...and I believe it...Take care of yourself..and be there to back up your hubby.... We had to drive around Atlanta a few times when we lived in Augusta...and I drove right smack through the city one time, but in the very wee hours of the morning. Still bad enough to suit me...Bless your heart ! I guess you never had the mumps when you were a kid. Do you know that you had been around any one with the mumps. I feel bad for you. Just a sore throat gets me down. How long will this go on do you know? Hope you feel better. Hope Bobs mother is better. Is she in the hospital. There are sure alot of them around here. Older people it seems to go to their lungs and I guess even some of the younger people. Good luck. Well yesterday is done with, thank you god. I was hopeing the Dr. would find something and he would maybe get more blood to the brain and have more energy but didn't find any thing. He said it was the same as when he did it back in 99 I think it was, the stents are open like they should be. So I think he will probably cut back on the pain meds for the anginia. It is kind of one thing or the headaches. We go back in a couple of weeks. Like he said he is getting older and the getting tired kind of goes along with that. He is 84 so I guess his body is kind of shutting down along with his mind. He will just have to go along with it and not try to do all the things he used to do. He doesn't understand why he can't. So I guess I will dry up on the vine and he will still be hanging in there with his heart just beating away. I am trying to be funny so don't any one take this the wrong way. Just my quirkey sence of humor.. Sun is shining today, no more rain. We just had a driddle on this side of the river and on the east side of the valley rained like heck. We need it bad. Or we are going to be a dust bowl. Well have to get busy. Every one have a good day and enjoy the super bowl if that is what you are into. I like to watch it to see some of the new comercials. Love the horse ones. Louise
Yep..got to see ol Buzz several times when I went to visit my son...One morning he put his arm around me and said " I love you"..I said ..in my best modern Granny voice.."Ditto, Kiddo.".He was quiet for a minute and I thought maybe I'd better explain this old slang to him..I said" Ditto means the same thing YOU said, and Kiddo means you are 10 years old"...He drawled"Yes, unfortunately." He's always maintained he was grownup inside...I try to tell his Mom this and she is not amused...Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ NetZero now offers 4G mobile broadband. We are finally starting to get a little rain. Not a down pour by any means, but some any way. Only supposed to last today and maybe tonight, but we will take what ever god wants to give us. At least it will get some of the bushes watered that are starting to look really bad. One plant, I think it is yellow broomstick is starting to bloom where it has had more water. It doesn't usually bloom until late Feb. early March, but starting now. Just a really starange year. Not alot of wind from the south. So every one go out and have a good day. I did my part in getting rain, I washed the car yesterday. First time that has worked. Tomorrow Dr. day for Ken for his heart cath. Still have to get my time figured out for morning. I never had problems about that before but now have to think it a little more since we don't live in town. Usually takes 20 min. to 30. I am an always on time person don't like to be late. Louise

Boy is it cold here in Pittsburgh. I use my electric blanket at night and when I get up in the morning the house is freezing cold. Its gotten down to 58 one time. I remember one time when we were first married it went down to -18 one day. The other day a weather man said that Nome Alaska was warmer than Florida. It is supposed to warm up in a couple of days. I started going to a chiropractor today for the fibro. I don't know if will help but I have to try it because the pain is so bad. Barb from freezing, snowny ugly, depressing Pittsburgh
