    1. [ML] The junk can in the Garage
    2. Years ago, we went to a friends housewarming party, a friends of theirs and ours brought this box, it was wrapped up real pretty. He gave half of his box of old screws, old nails, stuff you found in your car, anything left over form a building project, old rubber washers, handles from somewhere, latches, old keys you don't know what they unlock, and anything that's left on the garage floor after you cleaned it. Also almost anything like old springs, caps, nuts, and bolts, locks of metal washers, the end of old hoses, and plenty more I can't think of at this moment. My husband has a metal can, filled to the top with lots of junk, he says he saving all this stuff in case he needs a odd screw, or nail, but every time he needs anything from one screw, to a O ring, he goes to Cannings hardware. It's a town over, but you get a live body, who knows something about hardware, he owned the store since it opened way back when !!! I think most of you ladies know what I am talking about, the box, bin or can filled with this and that, but never has what you really need !!! Sully in Sunny California

    3. It has been very very cold in Pittsburgh and the crummie snow doesn't help. We are supposed to get 4-6 ins. tonight. Horray, more snow. I figured that my gas bill will be enormous the next time it is read, however, to my delight I found out that my region is sitting on top of the largest Marcella Shale in the WORLD.. We all hope so. One day my house was only 58 degrees and boy was it cold. Could have used a man to keep me warm but I don't think George would have approved. 2. We watch Downton Abbey on an educational channel. They just buy series to watch...Different areas, different funding, different shows...One show we watch every night at bedtime is The last of the summer wine...They must have just bought a certain amount of shows, as we watch re runs 2 or 3 times..Since it was on the air for 30 or more years, one would hope they'd buy the use of the entire show...Nope...We watch it every weeknight, then turn off the TV and go to bed smiling...JneT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` On Mon, 3 Feb 2014 01:35:03 -0500 Barbara Mangan <tipperboo12@gmail.com> writes: > Never heard of the show. 3. My sincerest sympathy at your loss, Martha. Neysa My sweet Daddy went to be with the Lord about 6:00 p.m. last night. He was my anchor. I don't know how I will get through this except for the grace of my Heavenly Father. He has already given me grace and I have smiled numerous times thinking about the fact that Daddy isn't in pain any more and he has no more worries. He and I have talked many times about this. He was ready to go but didn't want to leave Mother and his children and grandchildren. He was a happy man, God fearing and lived a clean life. I am so thankful that we had him for almost 89 years. He would have been 89 on March 18. I couldn't sleep at all tonight. My mind just wouldn't shut down. I've been so busy the past month taking care of him that I haven't had time to respond to any of the posts on Memory Lane but just want everyone to know I'm still around. 1. [ML] Here you go Doug !!!!
    2. Make a list of small things you can do around the ranch, stuff that screws and nails, and glue, can fix, than do one every week. Buy a book of cross word puzzles, or get the newspaper delivered, and work those cross word puzzles. Find a room that needs a little paint job, get creative, wall paper a room or just one wall that could use a little color. Make a list of things that need doing around the ranch, if their big things, do one a month !!! Build those chickens, a chicken coop, so they will have a safe & warm place to stay at night. Get a dog from a shelter, they are good company, I personally wouldn't live without a few furry friends. Plan a vegetable garden, make one with raised beds, so you can work the garden, while staying in your rider. Do you have a DVD player, you can rent DVD's from your Library, or you can buy some on Amazon, I just bought several movies, they were a bargain at 5 and 6 $$$ a piece. they sometimes have used DVD's for 3 and 4 $$$$. Laugh every day, I have four DVD's that make me laugh every time !!! Clean out your closets, and or storage, some times you find stuff you forget you had, it's like finding treasure. I have a neighbor, he loves to make models, of ships, but you can find models of cars, airplanes and lots of other stuff. Tax time is coming up, start getting it ready for the IRS, April 15 th will be here before you know it. There all kinds of games for the computer, and the TV, also there are many games on Facebook, just try a few, you will find they improve your mental abilities. and if all fails, write the story of your life, your grandchildren and your great grandchildren, and your great great grandchildren will one day get to know you through you writing. I know you are very good with words Doug, a lot better than me, so write a story, maybe even get it published, you may be the next great Mystery writer, you never know what the future holds, "SO GO FOR IT" Sully, in Sunny California

    3. Whew.. just reading all your suggestions is making me tired Shirley.. Somehow, I am managing to stay busy. The only thing slowing me down is the cold weather... Last Saturday, the weather was really nice with little wind. I climbed aboard my tractor and burned a big brushpile. Of course, by the end of the day I visited neighbors and discovered that our burn ban had gone back into affect... lol Actually, on the ranch there is always something to do. My chickens already have a nice coop and I'm thinking about buying a few more chicks... The few I have are getting old and will soon stop laying. Have considered getting a dog but have been procrastinating. Need one that is housebroken and that will leave my chickens alone. My to-do list continues to grow... lol :-)** On Mon, Feb 3, 2014 at 3:57 PM, <Sullyshirl73@aol.com> wrote: > Make a list of small things you can do around the ranch, stuff that > screws and nails, and glue, can fix, than do one every week. Big storm Wednesday! Sure wish we could send all the moisture out to California to help you out of the drought! I did my grocery shopping yesterday because of the storm coming today. 1. [ML] The less than Superbowl ???
    2. I was very disappointed with the Broncos yesterday, they didn't show up to play !!! I was expecting to see the best of the best, playing each other. Where was Peyton Manning ???? By the 4th quarter I gave up watching and went on my computer, played a game on facebook !!! Our little party tuned out good, ate lots of good food, and laughted a lot, What else could we do !!! I did see on the morning news, a price list at the snack place inside the Super-bowl, a soda $6.00, hot Chocolate $11.00, a Philly-steak sandwich $16.00 a beer $12.00, All to sit in a very cold stadium watching a football game only one team really wanted to play, The prices were a slap in the face !!! WELL THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR We got a little rain last night, and they are saying it should rain every other day all this week, I am praying it does !! Today it's bright and sunny out side, even though they said it was to rain off and on all day ??? Oh Well, they have been wrong before, and will be wrong again. Sully, in Sunny California

    3. Thanks to all of you who have thought about me during my sorrow. I am running the gamut of emotions. I close my eyes and see him lying on the floor while the EMT does CPR. I see his face while I say my goodbye at that time. I remember his wise advice every day of my life. I don't know what I'll do when I can't ask him what to do about things. I smile when I think about all the wonderful times. I was finally able to sleep last night. Today we have the viewing and tomorrow is our final goodbye. He directed church choir and I played the piano for him for fifty years. His life was totally lived for the Lord. What a rich heritage he left and what wonderful fellowship he is now having in heaven. He is no longer unable to move in bed and he can now talk and sing. I know that it will take a long time to acclimate to life without him but we move forward and do what we have to. Thanks again for all your love and support. 3. I'm with you Doug, I couldn't believe what a bad game. I like them to be right down to the last of who is winning. I liked a comercial or two but didn't think they were that great. Maybe I am just getting old and don't understand some of them. I like the puppy and the clydsdales. Love the horses. And dogs and horses do get along. I liked San Francisco along time ago when think it was Joe Montanna that would be behind and keep throwing it outside to stop the clock and down the line they would go and win in the end. Sully you said it was raining in southern Cal. we have nothing here. Clouds, Clear this morning, had frost. Have to go to town this morning and do the monthley shopping for food and other stuff. By the time you buy the other stuff don't have money for the fun stuff. every one take care out there. 3. wasn't there supposed to be a championship ball game on TV last night? On my TV there were two teams on the field but only one came to play. Geeze! After all the hype, why didn't I get to see a REAL ball game? Oh well... <sigh> The weather was cold and nasty yesterday and I watched a lot of television and most of what I saw was people giving kudos to Peyton Manning. Had I gone to church I would have expected to see a statue of PM on the alter... Someone give me a break. The question now is what do I do with my weekends now until next football season???? 1. Re: [ML] Downton Abbey
    2. Sully I agree. It was sad when Matthew Crawley died and how he died but the writers didn't have much choice. The actor who portrayed him wanted out of the show so he could be a star on Broadway (it was his dream). So in order for the actor to have no way of returning, they killed off the character. My birthday is coming up and that's what I am going to ask for the 4th season of Downton Abbey. I didn't much like it when Mary's husband was killed off at the end of season 3, Why must something bad always happen, when it seems Mary was finely happy. I don't know why Happiness doesn't last longer, they think something bad is always more interesting. I know the man who played Mary's husband, wanted out, but they could have done things different. I look forward to Sunday evenings Downton Abbey, even though I am not always pleased with the way things are GOING !!!!. Sully in rainy California. Yes it's raining, started a little while ago, I hope it rains all night !!! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mbousman1/memory.htm ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to MEMORY-LANE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. I heard how bad California is getting because of no rain. One man said they got 60 some inches last year but got only 2 this year. I really hope and pray that the rains come soon.
