Yes we do pay for our good weather, it's been raining most the night and morning, a little sunshine peaked through a few minutes ago, but not it's gotten dark again. It's going to rain off and on thru Sunday afternoon, with some thunder and lightening too. We are going to get snow in the mountains, all weekend. I went on our WEb-cam, not snowing yet, but they say soon. We have never had problems with mud slides here at our home, but you just never know what's going to happen where water is a concern. Most people don't have flood insurance, unless they live in a flood zone, but at times things do flood, some times as a freak of nature !!! The mud flows are in the area that had wildfires a few months ago, up in the Glendora hills, right below the San Gabriel mountains. With no grass or shrubs, trees, to hold the dirt in the hills, and when we get a lot of rain in a short time, that dirt turns to mud, with rocks, old tree limbs and any debre left over from the wild fires, it rolls down the hills, clogs the water basins, and the mud than runs down street, and over into any yards, and into homes. They have taken measures by using K-rail (big concrete dividers like in the middle of freeways), and sand bags everywhere they think the mud could flow, but sometimes the mud is too much for it and just goes around them, over them, or just pushes them out of the way. It is sad to see these people lose their homes, some old like us, they never rebuild, not enough insurance to cover the cos t !! Keep these people in your prayers, they could even lose their lives. Hi Jerrian, haven't heard from you to much. How ya doin? Its supposed to go down I think to two degrees tonight and are supposed some more snow. YUCK. Its windy, cold and snowy here. Every time I wanted to go out it snowed a good bit. You should see our 'potholes' Truly, they are magnifence. Some are round, some long, some oval and other shapes. They should put pictures of them of them on TV. I heard a lot of Tony Bennett songs being played on the radio and figured he is probably coming to Pittsburgh. May is when he is coming. They also are playing a lot of 4 Lads records also. That would be such a good show. I know Tony Bennett is still around. Diana Shore is gone. Don't hear that much about Ann Margaret. Seems she had or has a husband that is sick with something? Wasn't she the one that fell during a show and broke bones in her face. Have to look her up I think. Some rain here in Ca. overnight and this morn. Supposed to have more, is terrible I saw a post with Folsom lake and it is so below where it should be. Terrible. Have to get the snow in the mountains to get them filled up. Well have to go. It's gotten cloudy & dark here in Orange County, California, had a few sprinkles so far, but they say the heavy rain will come in tonight, and early tomorrow morning. Do need the rain, but the people up in the foothills of Glendora who had a wildfire a few months ago, are sand bagging as much as they can, all the shrub and grass in those hills was burnt off, now comes the mud flow down out of the hills. If their homes were spared from the wild fire, now they have to worry about their homes being flooded out !!! Just can't win sometimes !!! More rain on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. maybe lightening and thunder storms too. Need the rain, but not to much to fast !!! It's also dropped 10 degrees, over night, and getting colder. He wants it on for 10 min. Then the massaging and then cleaning the eyes. They gave me a packet with a damp cloth thing in it, of course one use. So used that then mixed up the 1 part baby shampoo, and 10 parts water. I just made one batch, and poured a little in a cup and used the cotton swabs to clean the eye lashes. This way I can pour out a little for the job and throw away after using it. Always afraid of contaminating the eye, but this is on the out side any way. Just kind of a pain in the neck doing it. Still just kind of showers out, but the noon news said this is just the beginning. Supposed to be more late this afternoon, and possible thunder and lightning, and possible a tornado with the wind. I am sure we will make it. As long as the elec. doesn't go out. Don't like that. My daughter and son-in-law took me to a Tony Bennett concert at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Ms. this past Saturday night. I thought it was just an incredible concert. He sang so many of the old songs, got several standing ovations. Of course he sang (I left my heart in San Francisco.) I can't believe he is just a few months younger than me, I will be 88 next month and he will be 88 in August. Audrey C.

Thank you so much for that information about the rice socks. I was told by my eye specialist to put warm compresses on my eyes 3 times a day. I would boil water in a pot and put a clean white washcloth in it. Had to wait for it to cool before using. I wanted it to all be sterile for my eyes. The rice compresses are so much easier. I have at least 2 dozen pairs of white socks, not a pair are 100% cotton, the closest I could come to it were 80% cotton and 10% nylon. Anyhow I boiled these in water and let dry, added 1/2 cup of rice, put it in the microwave on a clean paper towel for 1 minute. It works so much better than the warm compresses. Incidentally they told me at several stores they no longer make 100% cotton socks as they wear out too fast. I'm sure they are still made somewhere. Hot compresses for eye problems: 1/2 cup dry rice I cotton sock Put rice in sock- tie knot (so that the rice feels like a loose bean bag.) Put sock in microwave on high for 1 minute (Be very careful - when taking out of microwave-it will be very hot.) Wrap in a dry washcloth hold on eye 5-10 minutes 3 times a day. Morning , noon, night. Doug, you are tired of winter and we are wishing we would get winter. Mt. Shasta ski resort never really opened yet. Usually they have a big new years thing there. No snow this year. All grass, dead grass. They are hopeing they can get snow from this storm. I hope so too. I still have to wear glasses since I had my eye surgery. Ken doesn't really have to except to read. He can do it without, but not so good. I just wear mine all the time. Have trifocals. Need it to read, and long distance. Also have to wear dark glasses out side so just have the ones that change for in and out. so much easier than having to find the dark glasses all the time. especially here where you are in and out all the time. My eyes don't close up as much with the light as they should, so light sensitive. You will get used to all this soon. Yes, mine come out a little warm, but doesn't take long for them to cool enough for him. When the Dr. was telling us this I am thinking like you, hot water, cloth and all that. So much easier. Mine are white socks and thought they were all cotton, but maybe not, still works. Well here it is Wed. It is raining a little this morning, but now starting to lighten up. They say we may get thunderstorms this PM. This time of year with the warmer weather we tend to get them and then can get wind and have small tornados. Not huge but kind of mini ones that can still rip out trees. That is all I need. Yesterday we went to the eye Dr. for Ken for his dry eyes. His ducts are cloged up, we did some drops, but didn't do much good. So now 4 time a day have to put warm compresses on his eyes for 10 min. he said we can use rice in a sock and heat in the microwave. Then massage the eyes for 30 seconds, then wipe them, to get the debrie wiped out as he says, didn't see much this time. Then the special eye drops from them that you can't get at the drug store. Gees. So he is going to love having to sit down and do this, before it was just drops four times a day. After the first two days he didn't want to do them. If it was me I would be doing it on myself, but he just doesn't understand. Oh well, rainy so what else am I going to do. Have a good day out there, how are you doing Doug? Louise
