    1. [ML] Spaghetti & Cauliflower Soup
    2. I had a wonderful day cooking, just got in the mood. I think this has been coming on for some time, I started cooking Spaghetti sauce at 10:00 AM this morning, so it would cook down to a nice thick sauce. Made meatballs, and bought some sweet Italian sausage, so put that in about 3:00 PM, and it was ready to eat by 4:30, made a big salad, had garlic toast, was so GOOD. Have lots of good left overs too !!! When we went to Cost Co last Thursday, I bought some Cauliflower, I bought lots of Vegetables, got some Asparagus to make soup. When I started putting away my vegetables away, I found I had a big head of Cauliflower in my Veg. drawer, so I thought, Cauliflower Soup. Went on line, looked for a good recipe. Couldn't find one I liked, but found two I thought I could combine to make a good soup. So I made it, turned out so good, I had some for lunch, with some of that great Wheat bread that Cost Co sells. My husband is up, in the kitchen warming up a cup of the soup right now, he said to make sure I write down the recipe just the way I made it, because he would like it again real soon. It was overcast today, cooler, with a little sun peaking out now and than, good day to stay inside and cook. I am tired now, cooking all day, and than you ladies know about all the clean up from making Spaghetti, all the pots and everything. My husband is into all this march madness, made all his brackets (4) and found out he's in second place so far, he's one happy guy tonight, SO FAR. Tomorrow we celebrate our 57 th Wedding Anniversary, my husband said what do you want to do for our Anniversary, I said "SLEEP IN" Maybe we will go out to breakfast ?? I could go for some TAKE OUT Chinese food, from our favorite China Station restaurant tomorrow afternoon. WE'LL SEE !!!! Getting sleepy, It's 11:39 PM here, so Sweet Dreams everyone. Sully in Cloudy California

    2. Always glad to see your name on mail, cause I know you will take the time to write a newsy letter...It was warm up here on the ridge today..luckily, as they were finagling the new electric poles and power was off several hours...Daffodils are blooming, about 2 or 3 weeks late..I just know we had better get our early garden stuff planted because it will turn off hot all at once...Don't know though..it's officially Spring, but bad weather is supposed to hit next week. Sigh...Will it ever end? Jeannie T~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ____________________________________________________________ LifeLock&#174 Services 24/7 Credit Fraud Monitoring Plan. 3. I went to bed last night with a beautiful moon shining in my bedroom--put the shade up this morning to a dusting of snow on the ground. How did that happen--I should ask, after the winter we have had in the Midwest. Oh well, it will melt in a couple of hours. Wish it would get up to 50 today, I wouldn't have to wear my heavy winter coat when I go to the store. Grace in definitely NOT sunny Chicago land. 1. [ML] Sleepless in California
    2. Good morning friends It's been one of those nights, it was hard to fall asleep, and than my husband didn't come to bed till about 2:30 AM this morning, after eating a midnight snack, watching late night TV. He than woke me up coming into our room, I don't know what he was doing but made a lot of noise, than got in bed, put his cold legs and feet on me !!! So here I am awake, playing farm town on face book, and reading my mail, and writing some friends and you guy. Yesterday was one of those days, that people flocked to California at the turn of the century, clear blue sky, about 75 degrees, Just beautiful, but the weather is turning, we are going to have drizzle over the weekend, and it will get cooler. So enjoyed the day yesterday, sat in the garden and did a little day-dreaming, watched the butterflies, lots of bees are out, and there was this one bird up on a wire , looked a little like a hawk, he was small, but turned his head like a Hawk does. When they built our home in and around 1960's, they put all Telephone, and Electric wires in the back yards, so the poles run between our yard and the house in back, and that's where the birds like to sit, and the Squirrels run up and down, they jump into our trees, especially if we have any fruit in them, they make a big racket, sounds like they are fighting !!! Our yard at one time was a playground for our children, Swing set, sand box, and a big circle of cement for so they could ride their bicycles and other toys with wheels, my husband built our boys a tree house, in a big tree out back, they had a wooden box on a big rope, they would ask me to put their lunch in the box, than pull it up into their tree house, they had so much fun in that old tree. My husband was always building something for his children, he built his daughter a big Pipe Bar, just like the one they had at school, he went up to the school ground and measured it, got the same size pipe, and put one in the back yard for her, she spent hours out there spinning around on that bar, she was envied by all the other little girls in the neighborhood, some times we had five or six girls over here playing on that bar !! Our back yard is so quiet now, except for the birds and the Squirrels, and maybe when my husband mows the grass, we have had a couple of nice parties the last year or two, it's the perfect place for a party, lots of room for tables and chairs, and my garden right there to enjoy. I always get compliments on my garden, it's a lot of work, but I enjoy it so much, it's worth all the work. I am about to get to work, go through and thin it out, trim back some of the shrubs, pull any weeds, and make some places to plant new plants, and put in lots of flowers. Well I have gone on here long enough, have a good day where ever you are !! Sully, in Sunny California

    3. I ask her all the time, and she just says she doesn't do anything special! I do know she checks them every day to make sure they haven't dried out. Pots get dry much faster than in the ground. I would use miracle gro so you are fertilizing every time you water. Make sure you have them in a sunny place, too. That's the problem with my garden. After all the years we have been here, the trees behind have grown so large that the garden doesn't get enough sun. 3. That sounds delish! I've never made it, but I have seen recipes. I just made an eggplant recipe from Lydia that was quite good. We try to do the low carb thing here too. My kids don't like zucchini, or eggplant. Don't know what they are missing. Here is the eggplant recipe - http://www.lidiasitaly.com/recipes/detail/954 Lisa > -----Original Message----- > From: memory-lane-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:memory-lane- > bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Neysa > Sent: Tuesday, March 18, 2014 1:05 PM > To: memory-lane@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [ML] day light savings, now zucchini > > I make low carb lasagna using thin slices of zucchini instead of pasta. > Lots better health-wise and you don't even notice the change. 3. I make low carb lasagna using thin slices of zucchini instead of pasta. Lots better health-wise and you don't even notice the change. Takes more zucchini's with the small ones, but still works. Just use the regular lasagna recipe you like, and change the pasta to think zucchini slices (cut length-wise). 1. [ML] A blessing for St Patrick's day
    2. Top of the morning to you, wishing you all a wonderful St Patrick's Day !! Sending you a Irish Blessing Where there is happiness Hope you'll be there too, Wherever there are friendly smiles Hope they'll smile on you, Where there is sunshine, Hope it shines especially For you to make each day for you As bright as it can be. Having Corned Beef and cabbage, with little red potatoes, carrots. If I can find the time, I'll make some green Soda Bread. When my children were still in school, I always made green bread the day before, and made a sandwich on green bread for their school lunch, sometimes I would also make a green cake. My son who's birthday was yesterday, was born the day before St' Patrick's day, so we named him James Patrick Sullivan. Not knowing, but found my husbands grandfather, had a brother with the same name, It makes his name twice as sweet now !!! Have a great St Patrick's day, where ever you are !!! Sully, in Sunny & Hot California
