I am buried in snow, warm and cozy with my dog pack, hot coffee, a warm fire and good soup. The wind chill right now is -2. Only a few more weeks and it will be spring. Not even my German Shepherd wants to go out. The dogs are in a pile on the dog bed. Warm and cozy by the fire. Printers appear to be temperamental, I had the most wonderful printer with my first computer windows 98. When I bought my Dell windows XP the printer was not compatible so had to buy a new printer and it hasn't been nearly as good as the old one. I have found if you are having trouble with your printer just turn everything off, printer and computer, wait a few minutes and when you turn it back on it works all right, this works also for me if I'm having trouble with the computer, turn it off and start all over I think sometimes I confuse my computer. Now again I need a new computer I just detest the job of transferring everything to a new computer, I'm sure I will have to get a new printer also as this one will not be compatible with a new computer. Something to think about on a snowy day. Carol K in Michigan SLOW DANCE Have you ever watched kids On a merry-go-round? Or listened to the rain Slapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight? Or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down. Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last. Do you run through each day On the fly? When you ask How are you? Do you hear the reply? When the day is done Do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores Running through your head? You'd better slow down Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last. Ever told your child, We'll do it tomorrow? And in your haste, Not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die Cause you never had time To call and say,'Hi' You'd better slow down. Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last.. When you run so fast to get somewhere You miss half the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through your day, It is like an unopened gift.... Thrown away. Life is not a race. Do take it slower Hear the music Before the song is over.
Yup, it's winter again in Texas.. the weekend was great.. temps in the 75-85 degree range.. ton's of sunshine... This morning, just before the cold front hit (about 3AM) it was 54 degrees.. with the cold front, we had winds to 60 mph, rain, hail and sleet... as I write this, it,s 26 degrees and dropping. Don't believe I'm going skinny dipping today... prolly won't even go swimming. lol The Dougster :-)**

Did I say that I have had few, if any, problems with my HP DeskJet printer? I tried to print a confirmation receipt for a bill I paid on line late yesterday. It would not print! I tried a couple of times but it still would not print. I didn't think about it much at the time. This morning, I got a notice from one of my utility companies that I had a new bill online. I went to the site and pulled up the bill and tried to print it. IT WOULD NOT PRINT! I checked the owner's manual for suggestions to solve the problem. It said to print a test page. I did that and it printed perfectly. I checked the status of the print cartridges and the printer told me they were OK, not low on ink. I can't figure out what the problem is. If the cartridges are OK and the test page prints OK what the Sam Hill is wrong? I really don't want to buy a new printer but if nothing else can be done I guess I will have to. Suggestions anyone? I noticed when I checked the Troubleshooter page from the computer that it says my system is Windows XP. That was correct until I upgraded to Windows 7. I may try to delete the printer software from the computer and using the installation disk (if I can find it), re-install the software and see if that solves the problem. Don't know why it should make any difference since the printer was working fine yesterday morning but doesn't want to work now. GRRR! When my husband would go grocery shopping with me, my grocery bill would always be a lot more than if he hadn't come. He would see something that he thought we just "had" to have. <g> He was always in a hurry to get out of the store. Once we had gotten the essentials, and his add-ons, he was ready to go, no dawdling. After he died, I enjoyed shopping a lot more. I would take my time, seeing what was new and reading the carb/sugar contents to see if I could have it. Now, my daughter shops for me and I takie whatever she brings me. I make up my list of what I need for her.Emma > From: gramneysa@ct.metrocast.net > To: memory-lane@rootsweb.com > Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2011 21:46:26 -0500 > Subject: Re: [ML] weather > > Mine goes, but he is helpful. I had a different printer, but I don't remember what kind it was. I thought I would have the ink cartridges refilled, it would be cheaper. I took the printer in with me so they would see what I had. They took forever refilling my cartridges. Finally, they came out and told me that they couldn't get the new cartridges to work in my printer. They worked at it some more, then finally they said my printer didn't work. I told them it was working when I brought it in. They were going to leave it at that, but I finally asked for my printer back. They asked why I wanted it if it didn't work. I said it didn't matter, I wanted my printer back. I think they were going to get it working and they would have a new printer for free. I now have a HP all-in-one printer. I have problems with it every so often, but I keep working with it or have my daughter figure out what's wrong. I'm satisfied with it.No more refilled cartridges for me. I buy them new every time to make sure I don't have any more problems.Emma > From: dback1935@msn.com > To: memory-lane@rootsweb.com > Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2011 21:21:26 -0700 > Subject: Re: [ML] printer > > > Barb, > > I use an HP DeskJet 952C. It is not an all in one machine. I have had it about 10 years now and have had very few problems with it. If I had to get a new printer I might go with one made by Kodak. You will find the cost of ink cartridges for the HP will run between $70 - $75 if you buy the twin pack that contains a black cartridge and a color cartridge. I have never priced them at Wal*Mart, Costco, or Sam's Club. They might be cheaper at any of those locations. I had a color cartridge refilled one time and was not satisfied with the quality of the ink that was used. It only cost me about $25 for the refill. I went to Staples and bought an HP color cartridge and tossed the other one. I don't have any personal knowledge about the Kodak printer but I do know that the ink is not as costly as HP. > > Robert E Paty, Scottsdale, AZ aka Mad Hatter > > >

I was at the beauty parlor when what I thought of rain started pouring down. I was sitting and watching while the dye was stting in. by the time I got to the car i had to spray some spray deicer on the windshield and the driver's and passenger windows. which immediately started freezing......... I back out easily. and had enough vision to see if there was oncming and cross traffic Thank God there wasn't any traffic in my part of the world.. I think it took me about 10 minutes to get to my street from the beauty shop....(about a block and a half my street had been treated with both the liquid and rock salt. So i could drive at about 3 mph down to my house. I parked in my driveway. came inside and got into my pajamas and robe........I AINT aGONNA GO NOWHERE ,,,,,,,,for about three or four days. I did some shopping on Sunday.. for bread and milk and eggs and dog food for Mollie. This one is already worse than the one in 06 It looks like there will be 3/4 inch of ice I can call 911 if my power goes out.
