Don' forget , Ants and many other creatures have pinchers and they can hurt and surprise you into dropping them which is exactly as planned. Our nemise which will show shortly is the brown recluse spider! Hides inside and warm most of the winter, as it warms(babies) they become aggressive. They LOVE cornorsand stair treads. Stored picnic tables etc. My grown son(1-5) attracts them, he now has enough vemon they no longer are a major problem but still a nasty month longer Blister and healing with resulting scar. Younger brother also has problem( the spider also loves mail boxes but they leave Once the sun makes the boxes into ovens. All this is to warn, wear gloves when cleaning, especially creacks. Friend lost a finger to a recluse bite while cleaning the parsonage windows. That is basically what he does, too. Although if the sweet pepper is in big enough sections, he will pull that first and process it and keep it separate. We particularly like that flavor. Are these stinkbugs or crickets ? Like I said, I have one in my computer room and it won't leave. He is really noisely. He just won't leave. My daughter just killed 2 today. I heard that a man was wondering why his furnace would not come on so he called a furnace man and when the man started looking at it he found massive stink bugs were clogging up the furnace. My son-in-law works for the local electric company and he opened a container to get some tools out and found out it was loaded with these bugs Barb tipperboo12@msn.com > From: llepore@comcast.net > To: memory-lane@rootsweb.com > Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2011 14:11:58 -0500 > Subject: Re: [ML] stink bugs > > Thanks for posting this, Barb. > > I'm going to try to remember to look for it next summer. > > We still find a stink bug in the house every once in a while. > > You think they would have died off by now. Thanks for posting this, Barb. I'm going to try to remember to look for it next summer. We still find a stink bug in the house every once in a while. You think they would have died off by now. Probably living in a wall somewhere that I don't want to think about...... Color and taste of honey depends on the flowers the bees are working at the time. We have a plant called sweet pepper; the honey is almost totally clear, and has a tiny "peppery" taste to it. Just because it is honey does not mean it will have a taste you like...some buckwheat honey is awful. We call ours wild flower, as our bees range to gardens in our neighborhood. He takes the honey supers (where they store our honey) off before the buckwheat and goldenrod is out. That way he avoids that strong honey; the bees don't care...they will eat any kind of honey and by doing the supers at that time, they have time to make and store enough honey for the hive for the winter. I bought several dozen quarts of honey the last time, and specified that years fresh honey. Well, the honey we are using now looks like molasses it's so dark! It's partly sugared, so we have to heat it a little to pour it into our special honey jar. Still tastes great, so....I know where HE gets this honey, so will go straight to the producer next time...if we live long enough to use up what honey we have. Was spooked when reading about so many bees dying or disappearing so decided to stock up. My beekeeper says honey will never spoil; however, he doesn't know if it is the only thing. Neysa ----- Original Message ----- From: CAROL KUNZ To: memory-lane Sent: Saturday, February 12, 2011 11:02 PM Subject: [ML] Bees Haven't I heard that honey is the ONLY thing that doesn't spoil? Carol K in Michigan The brother of my late companion, David, lives in Filmore, CA and is a semi-retired attorney. One of his clients was a beekeeper who had a bunch of hives. I say a bunch because I don't know how many. Every year he would give the attorney about a dozen boxes of pints of honey from his hives. Joe (the brother) gave David three boxes of this honey. This was about 15 years ago. Over the years we used up or gave away two boxes. Each box holds twelve pints. I still have seven unopened bottles and one I am working on. Sure is a good thing honey doesn't spoil.
