    3. Granny, and all. Here in Ca. and living in the country there are alot of field mice out here. So I have D-con stuck in every crook and cranny. There is a space in the hall between our bath and the heater that has the air vents going up from the bath rooms I guess. Well you can't get in there unless you tear our wall out, and they left a space around those pipes, any thing can come up there. Supposed to be sealed under there but over time and work under there things have changed I think, so I keep mice stuff there all the time. When I mow in the field it is so funny because those little buggers will be running all over the place. Little holes. We had a stom come through late yesterday afternoon and last night. Alot of wind but not as bad as they thought it would be, now they are saying possible thunder showers this afternoon and maybe hail. Well we shall see. The almonds have started blooming, and we always seem to get a storm around this time. Hadn't had any amt. since christmas. Snow was starting to melt in the mountains, which is to early. Not the time. Snow is supposed to drop lower we hope. Don't like it being colder in the valley but, need that snow up there. I enjoy how you talk about your place there on the mountain. Really down home people. We don't do a garden any more. Just to much for me and Kenneth is good in the beginning, but he doesn't help keep it up later on. Usually have a couple of tomato plants, but neighbors have more than they can use so that is where we usually get ours. Made bread pudding the other day, doubled the receipe and it is gone now. The Mr. loves it. that is what he got for valentines day. 3. The first thing? Hmmm Good question... there are always so many things that need to be done it's hard to say what will be first... My guess is the chicken coop... this is something Sherry has been counting on for a very long time. Our hunters have offered to come down and help paint the small house they stay in, so I'm guessing that will be second on the list. There are some repairs Sherry and I will have to make before we get to the painting. The help from our hunters will be of tremendous. The old, wood frame house has needed scraping and painting for a long time. Of course the garden will be planted but that shouldn't take long. I can use the tractor to prepare the soil and then it's a matter of selecting the plants and getting them into the ground. The exists fairly near the house, an old open cistern.... about 12-ft across and at least that deep. It has a concrete base and concrete/rocks around it. We hope to make necessary repairs and turn it into a rainfall harvesting system. While we are on a rural water system, it is rather expensive. We will use the rain water that we catch to water the garden and the yard. Speaking of the yard, there is a tremendous amount of work to make the yard presentable... That job will take a lot of work and a lot of time... As you can tell, there is a lot to do... we'll keep busy, that's a certainty.. lol :-)** On Wed, Feb 16, 2011 at 12:29 AM, <askgranny@juno.com> wrote: > Woo Hoo ! 3. I can remember some odd year's past when some people were cleaning out Tomb's in Egypt they found a jar of Honey in one. A comment was made about how good and clear it looked even after being in that Tomb so long. Another women along with them made the remark that she would not try to taste it being it was so old it would be stupid because you could buy a jar for .29. I really got a charge out of that one because think how oldest main stay in life is and that come's from under ground as well and there was nothing to clean that with.

    3. Once better homes and gardens has a feature call smart cook . short items that change a meal. Best Cook in Town stands a big shakerful of roughly shaved milk chocolate beside a plate of butter bread....stirs a drop of almond extract into a cup of applesauce, folds in a cup of whipped cream, then chills and sprinkles with tiny chocolate bits.. cream cheese with a splash of gin and Roquefort cheese, firecracker dip for anything. Extends the beef by dropping chopped raisins into the roasting broth...places shredded cabbage in a cheesecloth bag lower to boiling water to tender and lifts to drain quickly... add a dash of chili powder to oyster stew..poach fish in cider for a perky flavor.. Hope this old column helps change someone's day.. Bud.

Also cricket's are black.Tho have seen brownish one's as well. But then thought God made some bird's different color's. So maybe some bug's are different in color as well. The only one ii ever think of is the Mallard Duck. The male is beautiful where the hen is tannish brown. But i know the Asian Lady bugg's do not sleep all winter like flies. Today a big male fly came awake in the living room ceiling light and came out and flew around a few minute's then must have realised he was awake to early and went back into the light and has not come out again that i aw. 3. Brown recluse bite care: debrission and cleaning several time each day. Wash area, asap, call doctor, save spider in vial. At home; wash, I prefer peroxide but bleach if handy, wash soapy to clear area, peroxide and we use Iodine, Careful some are very sensitive, bandage loosely to catch drainage, later remove bandage repeat scrub, carefully and genteelly remove all puss/materials, peroxide, iodine, bandage, repeat. Hole must be kept open and allowed to heal inside out. If red area grows, get to ER. My one son has been bitten when sitting at a picnic table, inside his pants(dropped on the floor) inside his shoe and another one bit , in the hospital, when they brought him a blanket. Bud.
