    3. I have also been using electronic banking for paying my bills. I still get a paper statement but no checks are returned. It is not important since I write very few checks. I can bring up a copy of most checks I write by viewing my account on line. If I write a check to make a charitable contribution, the donee sometimes treats my check like an electronic funds transfer. When that happens, no copy of the check can be retrieved since it is not returned to my bank. I get receipts for all of my transactions at the time I authorize the payment. These contain a confirmation number and I keep a copy of that until I see the actual entry on my bank statement. If a donation is treated as an EFT I will get a letter from the recipient acknowledging the gift. The letter shows the amount of the gift. I keep these in my income tax folder every year. 1. [ML] Paying bills and wearing hearing aids..
    2. Bless your heart ! Did you know you can have your bank pay ALL of your bills automatically every month ? We do that, and it's a godsend..no more hassle..stamps, etc...They let you know when they're gonna take the money out so you can change it if you like. We've been doing it 8 or more years and NO trouble so far. Even our newspaper cost is done this way....Hubby hated to write checks so now he has a check card... Hearing aids are wonderful things now..nothing shows but a tiny tube going from a little dealie that fits behind your ear under the hair...The VA just GAVE my husband some, plus batteries. His hearing was damaged by taking part in nearly a dozen atomic bomb tests in the Army, working around loud machines and being a lead guitar player for years. Most people don't even know he's wearing them. He's very pleased with them and would never go back...I pray you safe in these trying times...Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Thu, 31 Mar 2011 09:46:33 -0700 "Louise Valine" <antique1931@saber.net> writes: . > Needless to say I always go into the Dr. with my husband. 3. Hi Eleanor, My late husband had cellulitis for years and when it was at it's worse we had a nurse come to the house and she would wrap them with a medicated wrapping of some sort, it's called a ---- boot, I can't recall the name of it and MediCare paid for it. It seemed to help and also I had to hook him up to an IV once a day to an antibiotic drip. He did get better after a while. I also had it, just a small amount on my forehead, cellulitis is not contagious, I got it while I had a throat infection and it went away very quickly. It did leave a scar though. I hope you are better very soon, I am sending prayers. 3. Oh, man. My 78-year-old husband had 3 compression fractures in his spine repaired by vertebroplasty (they inject cement under pressure) Mar 4 and the result has been good, but he has to build up his strength again and that's a looooong process. So he got up at 4:30 a.m. Monday to use the bathroom, he uses a walker and had a flannel shirt draped over it because it's cold at night at our house. The shirt slid off the walker, he leaned down to catch it and fell. He knocked his head severely on the hardwood floor in our hall and immediately got a goose egg over his right eye. I called 911 (I can't get him up even though he now weighs next to nothing ... it's been a long process, all these back problems) and they put him back in bed. He got a black eye from it all. He went to see his rheumatologist yesterday and she ordered a CT scan of his head. Fortunately no bleeding nor any skull fracture. And she's putting him on Vitamin D and a medication for osteoporosis. I'm glad of that. He doesn't feel like he got any more fractures with his fall, but that's scary. This feels like a big setback, but maybe not. Anyway, our clinic doctors by and large don't "do" hospitals either, by and large, although the orthopedic surgeons do, I know for a fact. 1. Re: [ML] [AIF] FW: Eleanor - glad you are Better.
    2. Dear Louise, Thank you for your remembering me. Actually this started last year (June 2010) and has not gotten fully well. It started with both of my legs and feet swelling like a "Macy's Day" balloon. They were so swollen until they looked like they were going to burst. Little things that looked like blisters formed on my swollen legs and they drained water all the time. I asked the Infectious Disease Doctor what caused it....she said that last year when I had the oozing from the broken skin, infection (a type of staph) got started in there. I would go to my regular doctor and they wouldn't give me any medicine; so I started getting them giving me antibiotics for sinus infections...so I would not feel so awful. This time, I went to the ER and was fortunate enough to have my regular doctor. It is getting better, thank the Lord. I am so sorry to hear of your grand daughter having Mastitis...that is very painful. I hope that everyone in your family is doing better. 3. Although I had it twice, mine was mild compared to what you all are describing! I have pictures, though, and they aren't pretty! 3. Elanor, have they ever suggested the compression stockings to you. That seemed to help my husband at first. Now he doesn't wear them. At first I thought, "oh crap", how am I ever going to get those things on him. He had it when he had the bypass surgery and they were just terrible to get on. So in comes the nurse with the stocking, I told her of the problem getting it on his foot, she showed me, put a plactic bag over the foot and it goes right on. He can even do it. How come they didn't think of that in 1984 when we were struggling. Gees, oh well. At almost 82 he just gets so not easy to get on with some times. For some reason here for the hospital, you go in to the ER and if your going to be admitted they have the house Drs. that admit you and take care of you in there. You don't see your own Dr. But I do think with heart problems you do get your heart Dr. At least since the heart Dr. had sent him over to the hospital he came in to check up on him evem though it didn't have any thing to do with the heart. It was more comforting for Kenneth than a strange Dr. We have had the same heart Dr. since he went in with a heart attack at one in the morning in 1984. Got a cardiologist that was on call. I feel we have had good luck with him with all the ups and downs over the years and he gets along with Kenneths quirkey humor. Of course when we go in to the Dr. Ken says oh every thing has been ok. Then I tell him what may be going on.. One time when he went in with really bad heart pain and they were going to do the stents. He was having alot of pain, the Dr. ask him about it and of course Ken said oh I can handle it. Dr. said I know you can handle it but you don't have to we can get rid of the pain. It is like, he will complain to me, but when it comes to the Dr. he is just fine. You know Big strong man. Needless to say I always go into the Dr. with him. Especially now he can't hear good and won't do a hearing aid, so I always go as he doesn't hear what he is talking about or he misunderstands what they say. I know my memory gets a little flakey some times, so don't know what is going to happen if we are both that way at the same time. I already have it set up with my daughter that if I go first she needs to take over the paying of the bills. I have always done that part and he won't even write a check if he doesn't have to. He used to carry a check book in the pickup from when he was working and would deposit his check on the way home from work. Well that has been years, the bank would probably think it wasn't even him as they would be so far out of order as far as numbers go. His name is on the account, but he just won't write a check if he can get out of it. Oh well, I sure hope your problem gets taken care of. The last time he had only been out of the hospital about a mo. and he came in from outside and said it is cold out there. Well it wasn't cold, I knew what was going on as soon as he said that. So that part passed then the fever, and he always gets kind of out of his head. He didn't want to go to the hospital but knew he had to so off we went. That time he was only in about four days. The time before he woke up in the night of course he is hooked to the IV on the left side of the bed so he tries to get up on the right side to go to the bath room. He fell, didn't hurt him any, hit his head, but they took xrays and all and he was ok. So now when he goes in they put a strip under him that if he is trying to get out of bed it goes off at the nurses station and they are right there. They even had him across from them, but some times that isn't possible. Sure hope your problem gets over with. I am so afraid of his coming back. It is the leg they took the vein out of when he had the heart done, so the blood flow isn't that good. Always has a problem with swelling some times. You take care now. Sure good to see you on board again. I know you are on face book some of that stuff I don't understand. As you can see once I start going I don't know when to stop and on that is is just a few words. I don't play any of those games if I did I would never get in the yard and get any thing done which I have to do today. Do the weedeater as long as I can. Sjome times I think, what am I doing, almost 80 and still doing this stuff. Oh well, just be glad I can. 3. That's right, that's what he has. Still on a couple pills a dayto be sure it doesn't come back. Don't know how long this is going to go on. But we are going to have to go off them sooner or later, can't take them forever. 3. Elanor, Kenneth had a thing going on with his leg, can't remember what they called it now, but they gave antibiotics in the hospital intervenious, then he has been taking the antibiotics at home since then. Started out with his leg hurting, running fever and chills. Just feeling crappy. So hope tha t isn't what you had. Any way hope you continue to do well at home. We can sure get strange things as we get older. gees. Although, now this is off the subject of us older ones, but my granddaughter gave me a greatgrandson. Well now I have heard of this before, but never knew any one get it. She got mastitis. Would you believe that. I heard of cows getting it, and had read one time new mommeys can get it, but had forgot that. But all seems to be ok now and as she said she is a jersey cow again. So hope she continues to do ok as she has had alot of health problems, seems like any thing from both sides of the family she gets. My daughter and her husband only had one girl, so I guess she just got all the bad stuff. Had a really hard time getting pg. and time was starting to run out but all went well and they have a healthy 8 lbder. I looked mastitis up on the computer and there are alot of new mommeys that get it. who knew. Hope you continue to improve.
